Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Hey guys, need your suggestion.

I picked a black Creta in April '17 and got the 3M new car treatment done immediately. I've been using Jopasu + ONR rinseless solution + clean MF for pressure washing. The frequency is once a week, fortnight and month respectively.

However 6 months down the line the car's full of spiderwebs. I want to detail it, but I've 2 options now:

1. Get a ceramic coating done. Costs between 25-30k. But that's my detailing budget for 3 years;
2. Take it to a local detailer and use a stronger coating than 3M (Collinite?). Costs 8-10k (I guess). Repeat this annually; and
3. Repeat the 3M process. Costs 5-6k. Repeat every 6months.

Which is a better option? I don't have the resources or finesse to rub compound and polish at home, so it has to be driven by a vendor. I can maintain it by spray waxing it once a month after the pressure wash, and ofcourse doing the basics right (clean MFs, Jopasu, etc)

I was thinking that no one could but from R2D2's post below it seems he was able to.

Cool job on the car buddy. Great results! How long did it take you to complete the job.

Thank you Torquey Techie, did it in 3 weekends giving ample rest for myself as for the curing process. Still, I managed to incur some real pain the first weekend where I had to wash, decontimate and clay in 2 days, made a visit to the doc to have a shot of pain killers. I had to explain the reason for the pain and he was like

Wow man! But it was worth the pain I think from those photos. Getting a white car to gleam like that is major effort!

The initial set of pics were uploaded to a third party image hosting website (Tinypic.com). May be that's the reason why you don't see them

This is after using the car daily in the rains and parking it in the open.

This wax lacks the deep shine and Finish of a Carnauba wax, But heck it was cheap got it for less than 1200-/ Rupees during the sale.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

I did get some work done as the previous owner had not cared about paint and car appropriately. I recently bought a used Ford Aspire - one year old.

And OH MY GOD, I can't believe what came out of 3M car care Showroom at Sector 104 Noida. I so much recommend them. I also found them cheaper than other 3M Car care centre in Noida - not sure why that is the case as both centres are approved by 3M.

I went in only for underbody anti rust + Silencer anti rust as the car had been driven quite a lot on village roads as well but I came out with full Advanced Sealant as I hated those cloth scratches all over.

Pics speak for themselves. Just check how LED light is reflected on a scratched surface vs on a new surface - basically Advanced Paint Sealant Protection.

I am so happy.

First two pics below show how car went inside. I wash my car myself every weekend but today did not as I had decided to get it washed from 3m centre.

New Life for my Car. It is just wow - check out the shine.
Atul(9911515335) is the owner and he answered all my queries to my satisfaction as I was really wary of this treatment initially.

Can you share the costs incurred on the above-mentioned items.
Thanks

Yes. All prices are for medium variant.
3M has divided cars in four sizes - small, medium, large and extra large.

I bought following services :

1)Underbody Anti Rust treatment with 5 Years Warranty
2)Silencer coating as Silencer had just started gathering a little rust - RS. 990 , seems this one is not listed in sheet attached.
3)Front Glass (Windshield) Polish - In my case it was required as my wiper had developed issues during my last drive from Haridwar to Delhi. It was raining hard and it seems some dust got attached to wiper causing small scratches.
4) Advanced Paint Sealant

11250 approx without taxes. In total I spent approx 13300 with taxes.

I bargained and got UV treatment coupon(s) that I can use in one year. This will help to protect the new Paint Sealant. I am not the best negotiator so you can try and get a better deal.

I am happy with the quality of work.

I drove past this outlet few times. Thanks for sharing your experience. Probably being newly opened is the reason for competitive pricing.

Which size do they place compact sedans in?

I keep wondering how most of the detailers place compact sedans in same category as C segment sedans. Ideally they should be classifying based on length of car.

Compact Sedans (sub 4 metres) are in medium category.
Now I remember there is no real difference in pricing. I remember having talked to Sector 5 3M car care centre few weeks back and they quoted the prices inclusive of taxes - hence the difference.

I like the location of this centre better though. More easily approachable and wide roads.
