Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Hi,

I am getting my XU300 Red color in couple of days.
This is the first non white car that I am buying and looking for tips on maintaining the exterior and interiors.

A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide-img20210103130013.jpg

Based on my reading of last few pages of this thread, I am planning on following schedule and products

1> Bid good bye to Car cleaning guy :-)
2> Daily or Alternate day, wipe off with Jopasu Duster
3> Weekly waterless cleaning with Proklear Xtream cx
4> Monthly wax using Turtle Wax Ice Seal N Shine spray
5> Interior cleaning using Turtle Wax Quick and Easy Dash & Glass Interior Detailer
6> for the Exterior black plastic parts, Turtle Wax Trim Restorer
7> Pressure Wash after every long drive
8> Not sure if any of the above can be used for alloy Wheels

Thanks for listing the recommendations. Any idea how is Turtlewax Inside & Out different than above one? This appears to be slightly cheaper (more quantity/Re).

If you are looking for a more cost effective Plastic/Leather/Rubber/Vinyl Surfaces polish, this is another option.

A couple of my friends have used it, and they are pretty satisfied. No personal experience though.

Good list of things to take care of the car DIY way! Just one more thing, add a good car cover to the list, with scratch free material and preferably a water proof one.

- After a hard day of cleaning the car, you dont want to see your car collecting dust within few days, even if parked in a covered parking area. If you have outdoor parking, then it is MUST to have the car cover anyways.

- Jopasu duster and a car cover goes a long way in keeping your car clean and shiny for longer intervals, reduces the no. of times you have to wash the car which helps to save your own energy, save water and save the car from micro/minor swirls resulting from frequent washes

- It also helps in protecting the car whenever you go on outstation trips and may have to park it outside exposed to all kinds of elements

You can take a look at
https://www.polcoindia.com/categories/car-covers

I have bought their N-series car cover for my car. Ordered it online from this site and they delivered promptly. Pretty good quality compared to the usual silver covered car covers I have observed people use.

If you're ready to spend some serious amount on a car cover, go for TPH covers.

Their products are top notch in quality, customizable and offer a decent range for each car to choose from.

Hey Shashant, I just wanted to know why did you chose the Turtle Wax Seal and shine over others? And also is the spray wax as effective as the clay one?. Actually just like you, I'll be getting my car next month and this list is very helpful. I also wanted to know how do I go about using the Turtle Wax . Thanks

Hi,

Honestly I didn't do much product comparison. Just went to Turtle Wax site and identified products for different usage type. There will be better, cheaper products available in the market for sure.

I will start using them from next week and update this thread.

What is the VFM spray wax these day? Just spray and wipe types? Durability of about 15 days in Delhi weather would sufficient.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Hello everyone!

Would really appreciate some help. I had left my car out on the road just for a SINGLE day and this happened.
An imbecile with a Swift Dzire taxi was trying to paint his LHS door (which was essentially made out of body filler) right next to my car. As a result, a lot of white paint has got deposited on my cars fender and bonnet. I sent it to this FNG where they tried to polish it, but to no avail. Do I have to get these panels repainted or is there a better solution?

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Did they attempt to polish the entire area with a polishing machine? No direct experience, but to my mind, that would be a very bad approach to removing spots.

I would think, and this is just an idea, that the answer is painstaking and ultra-careful removal of each spot and spec with a razor blade. If done with enough care, there should be little harm done to the underlying surface, which can then be polished.

I did this once with a spot on a pair of spectacle. I was absolutely successful. Would I like to repeat same numerous times, whoa, no! But if there is no alternative one would have to.

I'd say, try a specialist detailer. They may have tricks, or at least, a practised, steady hand.
