Re: Tata working on all-aluminium car engine

GM stopped development on Aluminium engines back then because they were expensive to manufacture, and small-block V8s that were also developed then made CI engines slightly lighter and therefore the costlier aluminium blocks unviable.

They decided to live with a little more weight at a lot less cost.

PS - Anyone know about the balance shaft in the Nano. There is apparently a patent on it. (And anyone know about the unbalanced flywheel in the EcoSport)
