Hyundai i10 1.2 Kappa Uses a Non Standard Spark Plug

I was looking for Iridium plugs for my i10 Sportz and contacted the dealer who sourced me the iridium plugs for my AStar. But i was told that there is no alternative spark plug available for the i10 from any manufacturers. This was a bit hard to digest for me since i thought car makers have to follow a standard. But i was wrong and a bit of searching on the Internet i learnt that the 1.2 Kappa motor indeed uses a different spark plug with a longer reach.

Edit: If someone does come across an alternative. Please list it here

Re: Hyundai i10 1.2 Kappa Uses a Non Standard Spark Plug

In the good old days spark plugs had only one thread diameter. Today there are lot of thread diameters! so if you want spark plug spanners in your collection, you need at least three sizes.

Spark plugs used to come in various thread lengths also, hence I do not think that i10 plug is non standard, it is just one of those sizes not interchangeable with other engines prevalent in India.

Here are links to all spark plug related technical data Spark plugs uk, NGK, Champion and Denso spark plugs

and the NGK chart NGK spark plugs symbol code which decodes the diameter, thread size, heat value etc.

Croiss Reference Cross reference other manufacturers to NGK

Found one Spark Plug Hyundai i10 1.2 from NGK - 4288 Its one step colder than stock though. Stock: Spark Plugs - NGK - LZKR6B-10E Look at that thread reach, 26.5mm!

Found another one too. VXUH22l/IXUh22l http://www.globaldenso.com/en/produc...2010/07_4.html

Bumping up this thread.
Any viable alternatives available in India?
The standard "Champion" plugs are for approx 400 each at Hyundai A-S-S
If possible I would go for Iridium plugs once.

NGK Iridum Alternative: ILZKR7A

PS: Like the Denso alternative above this one is also one step colder than OE.

Oh yes I am interested because I have an i10 Kappa now after a long gap, the one this thread was made for was sold 3 - 4 years ago. I have already ordered the plugs.

NGK Laser Iridium (OE series) sparkies for the 1.2 Kappa. Densos are expensive and work the same. Iridium center and Platinum ground electrodes.
