Q

Very interesting! Hmm, I'm thinking you up the raze somewhat and let the mototr rev higher?

naveendhyani, just out of pure curiosity did you arive at 115 from higher raze as well and reving harder? Because I'm not very good at building long lasting motors and came with that figure myself, by a few "cheap n dirty" hacks like cap/res changes to "fool" the ecu into increasing the rev's, that does work on most 4age's though(obviosly noone I know is willing to try my idea's out though lol).

PS, how much for a remap?

Viper, do let us know. I'd be very interested in something for the Optra.

Hey,

Do you do the remaps in Mumbai itself and how much time does it take and what does it cost(approx for say a Getz and Honda City) which shoul dinclude removal of revlimiter.

Why not the car manufacturers have this option open for car buyers who can choose horses at their wish...may be like 1.4litres(90 or 110), 1.6(98 or 120) etc...

Does anyone have info like pin-outs for these engines? I think a baleno could do 120 without too much hasle, take a look at this article: http://www.4age.net/tech/efimod.htm

It's for the 4ag series but think the basic concept aplies to many other engines.

thanx exo for this info!

i went thru this, mayb i will traslate this 2 my local guy in hindia and lets see what he can do about this. i m sure this will decrease the FE of the car but who cares for a shot or 2 down the highway.

u expect to gain 25+ bhp by adding a resistor ?? Sounds very highly unlikely ..

Well sort of, it's not as far fetched as it sounds, think about it: it's not too conceptually different from the remap concept, as it's "getting back" what was detuned for our versions.

From a bit of chemistry, and comparing with some road going engines it takes roughly 45L of air to burn enough fuel for 1bhp. Now a 1.8L 4-stroke engine will take in 5400L of air.So you'd expect 5400/45 = 120 bhp.

OTOH, the baleno stock seems to burn 60L per hp so wouldnt that like damage the engine?

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/bugatti1.htm for some basic run downs, dont worry I checked the data empirically with around 10 engines(all kinds) and it held up!

Most of our engines have been detuned because Indian fuel is so dicey. If you're going to remap, better make sure you only fill from a petrol pump you really trust.

Having said that, has anybody got anything for Optra yet?
