After market immobiliser?

Is it possible to fit an aftermarket immobiliser to any car?

If yes, how much does it usually cost?

PS: My car is Alto VX.

Most of the "Remote Locking + Alarm" systems available in the market also have an "Imobilizer" feature built into them these days. Basically, when the system is "armed", a relay is energised cutting off power to the ignition and / or starter motor. While the alarm is sounding, if you try to start the car, nothing happens !

I picked up my "Minda" system for around Rs. 2000 in Thane almost 1.5 yrs back. It came with 2 x 4 button remotes + 1 actuator + 1 door switch for the bonnet + 1 antenna cum LED housing + 1 relay for the imobilizer feature. Installation was a 30 mins process that (sadly) involved some splicing of wires under the dashboard but it has been running without any glitches since.
