Re: Is It necessary to clean under the hood of a car?

I never washed the engine bay, except for the moist wipe done during ford servicing. However recently i did steam clean from Aquatint and they did an amazing job. No idea about repercussions though. They are confident nothing will happen and doing the same on expensive German cars also. Let the pics do the talking:

What precautions do you take before cleaning the engine bay

I have only detailed the exterior and interior but never the engine bay. The EB is dirty and I want to clean it.

Many videos (even those linked here on various threads) say that you need to disconnect the battery, some say you don't need to bother and it's all contradictory.

What's the safest and best way to clean and then dress the engine bay?

Make sure the alternator, ECU (if in the engine bay) and other electrical or electronic components including the fuse box are clad in plastic. Go easy on the brake cylinder reservoir too. It's supposed to keep out humidity but not a strong jet of water.
