Goldie, please share your experiences for highway mileage and city as well as the 0-100 (if you've checked out). I think 27 kmpl is absurd and so is a sub 9 seconds timing.....

As per ACI, OHC VTEC does 0-100 between 10-11 s - around 10.5s or so ...
as per ACI ... NHC vtec is 10.66 ... cmon goldie ... OHC vtec was more powerful...lighter...it would be atleast half a second quicker if not more than NHC vtec ... sub-10 i would say

havent checked out the 0-100 myself - dont have the professional equipment for that.

i get an FE of around 12-12.5 kmpl within the city with A/c, and normally shift higher than 3k rpm
on the highway, its another issue altogether - i got 15 kmpl without A/c -and, i gotta quote GTO here ...

But then again, I ought to start realising that there is a 4th and 5th gear. You see...high revving is TOO MUCH FUN

true - OHC was more powerful, lighter and had more revv-range too

but still it could not break the 10 second barrier -
as per BS Motoring - 10.35s
as per OD - 10.12 s
as per ACI (could not find link here) - around 10.5 s

perhaps NHC is more aero-dynamic, as suggested before

If OHC Vtec does not break the 10 Sec barrier, then what is the big deal about the car? Even a 1.8 Optra, Corolla, Elantra all reach 100 in 10.xx secs.

Anyways according to TG the NHC ZX goes from 0 - 100 in 15secs. They havenot yet tested the Vtec.

It is a 1.5 ltr car !!! And it breaks the 11 second barrier. The only one to do so in its league.
btw - corolla breaks the 10-second barrier - its around 9.8s or so.

C'mon - it is underpowered, but not that slow.

If I recall correctly , OHC Vtec does break the 10 sec barrier as per ACI figures. 9.9 ish I think .. need to look up one of the old ACI issues.

yaa thats what they claim ... but at the same time they claim fiesta 1.6 takes 12.5sec ...ACI claims 11.43 for the fiesta... 15.xx for NHC ZX in TG is 13.2 or so in ACI.

BSMOTORING is not far too. It claims that a Sonata Embera is faster then a Octavia RS but in reality RS is faster and a Accord is faster then a Embera, and a Octavia is faster then a Accord hence Sonata is the slowest of the three.

Its better not to take final figures given by these mags. Rather it would be wiser to take the time of all of them and then take their average for a better calculation

No wonder you will notice in this thread (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...iciency-5.html) that anyone whose car is giving good FE is told that the OD guys will be after him due to their tall claims. Infact ACI received a letter in which a person had wrote he went for a bike after reading ODs FE tests that it gave 101kmpl but it was giving just 58kmpl(near to what ACI had said in their tests) So it will be wiser never to trust OD figures. OD states that a Swift gives 12kmpl in City but in reality it gives 8-9-10kmpl only nothing more(ZXi version atleast from what i have heard)

FE of cars I had read from feedback from owners in bangalore is as follows with 100% AC in city.

NHC - 14 kmpl
WagonR - 14 kmpl
Santro - 13 kmpl
Swift - 12 kmpl
Accent - 11.5 kmpl
Baleno - 10.5 kmpl
Getz - 9.5 kmpl
Ikon - 9.5 kmpl
guys pitch in with data for Fiesta (petrol), Aveo, Opel Corsa, Optra, Elantra [for city driving with 100% AC]

Perhaps TG needs better drivers - am sure they'll get loads of volunteers here

perhaps they do

btw in feb ed of ACI
corolla - 9.07
skoda RS - 9.06
but the RS is in a diff league ... its 0-140/160/180 times will be significantly faster than corolla.
