Extremely High RPM at Idle after PCV Valve change

Extremely High RPM after PCV Valve change

This was right after, I mean instantly after I changed the PCV valve and PCV valve seal in my Maruti Suzuki Zen 1L, 16V MPFi.

The car has done 130000 km. This was the first time its PCV valve was changed.

I even reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery negative for 30 seconds.
After that, it started fine with "kind of normal" idle but slowly after 10-15 seconds, the car again started acting up and started idling annoyingly high

Most likely a leak somewhere around the PCV valve area. This happened with me on my Esteem and turned out the hose had not been connected properly.

Re: Extremely High RPM at Idle after PCV Valve change

^^ +1.

Most probably a leak somewhere in the crank case ventilation pipes. I had this issue in my IKON, and just like vikram, my hose too was disconnected. Plugging in solved the issue.

Does the Zen have an IAC valve? If so, faulty IAC could also be the issue.

Check all vacuum connections. Check the throttle body. Is PCV valve connected properly?

Re: Extremely High RPM at Idle after PCV Valve change

So sorry guys, actually there was something else that was changed too.
The small rubber cushions in the accelerator and clutch pedals that prevent the metal to metal contact and hence the sound. Because of this, the accelerator was a little depressed even after being stepped off from. I noticed that the revs came down if I pulled the pedal with the tip of my shoe.
I added the required play in the throttle cable and now everything works fine.

The idle is buttery smooth and there seems to be a perceptible difference in performance too with the car not being "visibly" bogged down on switching on the AC and is a joy to drive in afternoon heat as well with very good performance with the AC. I recommend you to keep a check on the PCV valve, it really gets clogged up pretty bad.

Glad that you found the problem and it is now sorted. Enjoy the buttery smooth drive.
