Adding Acetone(liquid found in local paint shop) in petrol improved mileage by 10 to 15% with enhanced performance....

Hey finetuning have you tried doing this?

This article does sound very convincing though, I have heard that adding toluene give a good boost but acetone is something totaly new.
This is more detailed in its explaination.

Will someone able to throw more light on adding Acetone.

I am so intrigued by this topic that i havent stopped googling abt it, found another forum.

& after reading so much i have gotten myself even more confused.

Hey senior Bhpians pls throw some light on this thread.

interesting debate !! but i have my doubts on acetone not harming the engine parts!! i mean its too strong a solvent to have a negligible effect on the parts !! im going to do my field work before i try that out on my baby!!

well acetone is completely soluble in petrol but i dont know the harm it can cause to the engine due to its strong solvent properties!!
looking forward to learn more on this !!

In this post there is talk of Adding Tolune to petrol to increase the ocaten level. I guess that if tolune dosent harm the fuel system. Acetone also shouldnt. as the quantity suggested is 2.5ml per litre petrol.
But them again I would like the views of some senior Bhpian on the same...

Guys Please do throw some light on this

but buddy there is no evidence that toluene dosen't have long term effects either!!!
also all expertiments done have been that off keeping the parts soaked in acetone but what needs to be verified is its effect at high temperatures achieved within the engine!!

hi frnds,

I got slight improvement in mlg after adding acetone( 1st it was 10.58 after acetone it became 11.5). But after 2nd filling the mlg droped drasatically to a pathetic 8.19.

can anyone explain this phenomenon. I suspected it being a trick by the pump wala so i did purchase 1 ltr diesel from tht pump in a 1 ltr bottle. The quantity was ok( actually it overflowed).
