VW Vento A/C display failure

Hi everybody. Straight to the topic, the a/c display on my 2011 Vento has partially failed. I would like your advice and thoughts on the matter.

The left side that displays the blower speed is failing. The lower-most bar of the fan speed is very faint / not visible. The fan icon is gone and so is the border and the empty bars.

What could have caused this? Is it possible to replace the display alone? Will it be covered under warranty? The car was bought July '11.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
