max power from 1.6L petrol.

hi.. there are lots of mods one can do with different engines depending on how deep their pockets are..

Can anyone please tell me how many horses can actually can be pumped out of the 1.6L petrol engine? MAX.

i mean from a naturally aspirated engine having as many other mods as possible. Also if possible, can anyone please tell which mods add how much power..

At the F1 level the engine should generate 350-400 BHP.

f1??????
wrong answer.....probably wrong thread....
i think u can harness about 180 bhp from 1.6l......but that will be too much of a strain on the engine!
140-160 bhp should be the range u must be looking for......
more than that will kill the engine.....
about the mods.....ask the ppl who know best....psycho....vip3r....viper....etc(sorry for forgetting lots a names...im just giving examples!!!!!)

Most powerful NA 1.6 liter is the legendary Honda B16 at around 160bhp.
Remember it first saw the light of the day around 1989.

Honda's B16B puts out 184 bhp in stock form. That's rather insane for a 1.6 litre block that's naturally aspirated.

I know 1600s in Bangalore that put out close to 140 bhp without the effects of variable valve timing. To answer your question, it can be done.

Found something interesting on net. The most powerful 1.6L ever built.

Like Venu mentioned. A 1.6L NA F1 engine could produce close to 450-500bhp (ofcourse it'l have to revv to 17000+rpm).

A more practical fig would be between 160-180bhp. The B16 engine on Jitu's City produces 170bhp@7800rpm in stock form.

Since we are talking about 1.6L engine.
A rotary engine will put out much higher power than any other engine.
On Mazda RX-8 (PDF file) it gives 225BHP from 1.3L

More information can be found here

EDIT: here is explanation of total cycle http://www.keveney.com/Wankel.html
