I wanted to give a garnish to the machine and hence went with the idea of a bolt on body kit without altering too much with the aesthetics. Had a design in mind and tried to convince the guy all i wanted was a subtle rear diffuser and a front skirt to match the flow. Im not sure about the outcome but still got a spare set of front bumpers to work on with. After 3 months of waiting i get to see this.

In the meantime i stripped the car on the other side for painting. All beading's were removed and the weather strips are to be replaced with new ricambi ones. The front glass to be removed and replaced along with the rubber grame for the windshield. There was minor rust at the beading ends and the boot end. The portion of the rubber joining the metal were specially checked for rust as the palio is highly prone to rust in these places.
The issue is the C pillar S10 badge lost its sheen making new badges is an issue as its a 3D print and the sticker guys dont do it for small orders.

2nd week the body was leveled and all the micro dents were now clean. The surface was prepared for the job to be done

3rd week i was called to finalise the colour. I had selected a different brand of paint and clear mix so they wanted to make sure the colour was right. The colour was mixed in my presence and sample was sprayed and consent was given to go ahead with the paint.

5 days later the first coat is painted and stickers go into it before the clear coat. Thre was a bit of delay as i insisted on a particular painter to get the clear coat and final paint done as i intended to add a pearl touch without loosing the OE colour. The sachin signatures and the badges were stuck and version S10 super sport was nearing completion.

finally on Aug 9th the car gets ready to hit the road. Had tried a different combo paint theme using Glasurit and House of Kolor and now let the pictures speak of whats done. Almost a year of waiting

Whatever thing you have mentioned about maintaining S10 like changing the timing belt,crank sensor,alternator,etc are all spot on and a must read for potential S10 buyers to keep their cars in top notch condition.

Late 90's - early 2000's Production Palio was one great piece of engineering. Solid and Sturdy , the feel of the steering , sheer confidence from the body shell, the mighty doors and to finish off with a great engine both 1.6 Petrol and 1.9D ( though there is no comparision between both on power delivery ).

I was proud owner of a Palio 1.9D. It was a great machine and till today I badly miss the car. No matter what ever I drive , that blue bird will always be remembered. some 10 years ago, my driver blew up the engine due to over heating and the car never came back to its original state. had to sell it off with a very very heavy heart.

Its overwhelming to see this car coming back to life as if it was produced just yesterday.

This thread is a tribute to all the Palios. some that perished and some that continue to live on. But yours will be a legend that lived on.
