Problem with Palio 1.2... Help!

Hi Guys,

I am having a peculiar problem with my Palio 1.2 (Pre NV). Going at constant speeds (approx 60-80 kmph) the engine coughs sometimes and looses power, it behaves as if the fuel supply got cut for an instant, when i press the accelerator padle at that moment further nothing happens, but everything returns to normal in 2-3 seconds. The mileage is 8-9 kmpl with AC on most of the time.
What could the problem be?
Do i need to clean the injectors?
Hw do i make sure that oxygen sensor on my car is working fine?
IS there anything wrong with the engine?

Regards,
Lavkesh

Check ignition coil. One/more of the plugs is not firing.

At the outset it does seem to be a problem with your fuel supply. First change your fuel filter & try to replicate the issue..if it still persists then go for injector cleaning.

I second this. I faced a similar problem where my 800 would suddenly show the symptoms you described. Was finally traced to a damaged plug cable.

When the problem happens do any of the warnings lights on the dash board glow? As Nitrous said, it could be the ignition coil or it could be a problem with the alternator if the battery light glows.

No warning light glows as such. Is there a flat spot somewhere in the 1.2's rev range... coz after a certain point when i press the accelerator there is a sudden step up in power.

Hi extreme_torque,

Sounds like a problem i once had, which finally turned out to be a burnt/shorted wire on my fuel pump.
