The data will be fetched from Tata - siebel and displayed to you after a couple of simple steps.

All you need to do is put in the vehicle number along with valid phone number and email address (which is there in Tata's Siebel system)

Maruti is launching a similar system whereby one can check entire service history of the car at authorised service centers - online. As a start they have started upgrading the systems at all the authorised service centers.

Yes. Maruti's Dealer Management System (DMS) will soon (not sure how is "soon" defined but guessing this year) have a retail user interface whereby customers will be able to check, confirm and download their vehicle's service history. This is another step in the right direction since it will enable customers to keep a track of all past records. It is also expected to make the "pre-owned" cars business more transparent since a buyer can now have the option of checking a car's service history.

Only the last service date and the mileage (at that time) is displayed, an option to view/download service history would be useful.

Website works well. I could access my old car data from it. They should allow an option to down service history.

This is amazing, truly and it opened up two answers.

Surely this can be used by perspective buyers of used Tata cars to get some real data, and it helps.

So what did i do, I entered my Indicas number which i sold in 2008 when it had clocked about 68K on odometer. What the link told me was amazing also saddening.

It tells me the the car was serviced in Jan 2013 at Prerna Motors and more surprisingly it says the odometer reading at that time was "63630". I am sad at the state of affairs when it comes to used cars.

A definite A grade feature. Should have been provided long back with pre-owned car sales picking up.

With facilities like these being implemented, dealers "might" refrain from clocking odos if, the car has been serviced at a manufacturer's service station throughout.

Good to see TATA lead the pack atleast in some department. If they start applying these tactics to their vehicles as well, how many of us see a winner here ?

Checked the details for our Aug-2000 Indica (pre-V2). Says it was last serviced about 2 years ago, with an odo reading of 2.18L km !!

Fantastic find Foby. When I entered my car's registration number & clicked on the "GO" button, within a couple of seconds it displayed:

• Vehicle Model:

100%, the service history is the most important item if you are looking to purchase a used car. Though it may not be available online, I am sure you can get the details from the Service Station where the car was last serviced.

@ Latentpotential please share the deatails of the Maruti DMS system, once it is up & running. You can post it here or start a separate thread in this section

The bloody thing works and is accurate for TATA. It indeed shows the last service and the service station though shows no details of the work done. But a good start never the less.

The resale value estimated is more than what carwale gives

The system is surely a life saver for many in the market who wish to buy used Tata cars. A good friend of mine wanted to buy a Safari that he saw on carwale: Link.. Quickly checked up the site to find the last known odometer reading. The dealer had obviously turned back the reading by about 30,000 kms.

I bought an Indigo SX in 2009 from them,with odo at 52500 something.Just checked with this website,found this.
All those 140 checks and all go for a toss.Buyers beware.
By the way, I sold this car last year with odo at 64000 something after using for almost 3 years.
