Thanks roy! It says mini ELM 327 version 1.5. Is that version number related to anything specific? There is one more product listed which is black in color (can't paste links:Frustrati). Costing aroung 2.2k. What might be the difference?

From all the documentation I read up on the net about OBD 2 connectors, the one thing that came up recurrently, was something to do with a genuine ELM chip. No clue what that means, and I ordered this one, since it was quite cheap. Worst case scenario - I'll bin it and buy something else.
I also saw that connectors ranged from 1400 to 3000 odd bucks, although no clue as to what the differentiators are.
Let it arrive and I'll post my experiences on this thread.

The sure way to find out if your vehicle is OBD-2 compliant is to look for the standard DLC (data link connector) that all OBD 2 vehicles have. It will be located underneath the driver's side of the dash.

Thanks!

I found the following link from dx.

It seems different car manufacturers use different language or codes hence this model has the ability to read the following.

- Supports ISO9141, KWP2000
- Supports SAE J1850
- Supports CAN bus

Dont know much about all this. Just read through Wiki.

Very good app! Though I ma not sure if it works on any of my cars (both of them are not OBD II), I liked the UI.
I particularly likes the Bosch Spare parts list feature. At the moment, it seems to be lying a bit. If they really fine tune it to be true with part numbers, price and online order option, nothing can beat this app!

I am using this. Works perfectly on the modern Fiats. Bought off ebay USA from a seller called HDE.

As for the app on the phone, I use Torque. Pretty good and provides all real-time info. It's fun especially on turbocharged cars as you can see the boost when you are having fun with the A pedal. You can also do a HUD with your phablet or tablet.

Hi Driv3r, Please see the above lilnks. Both the products look the same. Could you specify which one you have got. The second one is more advanced i guess and hence a higher price as well.

Have you used it by any chance yet ? Do you have some pictutes to show how xactly this thing works ?

Thanks!

Great application, and free too. Sad that my Swifty is not ODBII compliant :Frustrati Between, a friend of mine is using ELM327 device and it works perfect is what I heard from him.

The application worked well with my Quanto. The OBD connector I used was bought from eBay.com and very similar to the photos posted above.

The Ebay links say that the product is not in stock anymore.

ELM OBDII scanner are available at cheaper prices from dx.com and dinodirect.com
But I read a lot of negative feedback against dinodirect.com, fortunately I got my product delivered.

Is it feasible to order from ebay US? I am finding it cheaper as compared to ebay India. Even after $2.99 shipping charges, its cheap. All the products listed on ebay India are now more than 2k :Frustrati.

One thing I am afraid of is the customs. What are the chances of clearing Mumbai customs? Total cost is coming around $17. please:

My 1400 buck connector arrived today and I hooked it up on my Gurkha. The Bosch app works great and so do a few other apps from the play store. Highly recommended!
