Paint protection

First of all I 'd like to mention that I find this site very useful. It teaches me lot about cars. I thought I had some kind of leakage problem following AC use on my fiat petra and learnt that water dripping from AC is normal
I have just given my petra for it's second servicing and they called me and said that if I like they can provide paint protection/anti rusting and cleaning of upholstery for RS 5800. My Q. is additinal paint protection required and is the estimate reasonable.

thanks

ask them if they are providing 5 yr warranty or something on those lines, for paint protection or not.
coz they shall be giving you such a warranty for that anti-rusting thing!
and i guess this anti-rust thing is meant for the underbody protection thru rubber paint etc.

every such dealership is giving 5 yr warranty on underbody rust protection.
ask for that and doubly confirm on such warranty for paint protection, else just forget about getting it done!

i am quite sure they won't be giving you any such long term warranty fro paint protection.

They r giving 5 yr warranty only for the anticorrosion. Though he said for the Teflon coating he will give me 1 yr warranty and touch it up again free of charge in six months to maintain gloss. I am wondering if I should ask him to do the anti-corrosion thing and forget about the Teflon.

thats it!
i knew it, they cannot give a long term warranty on teflon coating.

i guess, actual teflon coating is backed by a warranty from company for abt 3 years atleast, but it costs a lot, hence is not done so openly!

forget abt "this" teflon and get underbody rust protection done. and remember, this costs somewhere near to 1400-1500 rupees only (for underbody).
if u wants to include wheel and engine bay too, then it'll need some extra bucks.

IMHO, teflon coating is just an eye-wash. You can get paint protection done from professional paint specialists like TPC3 in mumbai. Log on to www.tpc3carcare.com for details. I have done paint protection from TPC3 for both my Esteem and Baleno and believe me buddy, its the ultimate thing you can do for your car's finish. They offer 3 years warranty on the coating wherein they carry service every 6 months. Its well worth it. You can see the difference yourself coz they use a gloss-meter wherein you can make out the difference before and after the paint protection treatment. Moreover they offer complete protection for the exterior including head/tail lights, Vinyl strips etc. You can contact Mr Rajesh Manchanda on 9821095545. They offer a variety of products for coating right from 2.5k till 4.5k depending on the different brand on protection used.

They also do underbody treatment with 15 years corrosion warranty. Beat that!

I have teflon coated my earlier cars from the car-showroom dealers and i seriously feel all the money i spent on the soo called "Teflon Coating" was an absolute waste.

I hope it helps

Hi All !!

I am using this post to know whats the best way to protect the metallic colour of my new Aveo and also protect it from scratches.

I have heard that Teflon coatings by dealers are mostly an eye wash as they use wax instead.

Please advice me for place in Delhi where i can get the paint protection thing done and what should be the right price for this.

Also is anti corrosion / under body treatment needed ??

Eagerly waiting for your expert views.

Thanks !!

What is the best way to prevent scratches from Day to day cleaning?

I have a New Honda Civic in Deep red colour.
I use services of Apartements Car cleaner, and unfortunately I have little control over his cleaning process, habbits and style.

The scratches that happen during cleaning are often because of these particles rubbing against the paint when the dusting/cleaning process is going on. Professional drivers who clean their vehicles use water as a lubricating agent to be gentle when taking these particles off the body, and then go for a harder rub with the moist cloth. Wet the cloth with water, but do not wring the cloth - let the water be there and use it to get the dirt/dust off.

You could use a pressure wash as the first step if possible - from your tap, to try get most of the dirt/mud off.

Alternatively do a weekly wash at a local place - may be a bunk/small service station.

Get a more educated cleaner - some one who knows how to clean the car, and not just any which he wants to.

Harder stuff - like bird droppings - are best removed immediately. Same for the mud & slush during rains.

I Heard Llumar has come up with some paint protectiong film which can be applied over body parts where there is high likelyhood of scratches...

It is virtually invisible film, does not peel, discolor and is scratch resistant.

Does any one have any experience with it or something similar?
