My car doors dont "pause" while opening!

Hi...
I have noticed that the doors of my cars do not pause while opening. I tried Alto and Palio doors, they have a pause as they open. Even new models of the same car (wagonr), have this feature.
I dont think the nuts and bolts are getting any looser, since since the day i bought this car, it doesnt have that characterstic "pause" of Alto and Palio.

I belive overa period of time this 'feature' fades. one of my friend who has 3 year old Alto, even his doors dont pause while at the same time My dad's 3 year alto's does & so does my brand new Alto's. So i guess it depends on usage, there might be some hinge which would be getting smothened out over years.

just speculating & sharing my experience

When you say pause, do you mean in between pause steps? If that's the case then you may need to change those notched pause plates on your door hinges.

i think they are called "door stoppers" or somethin like that..

I have not seen this feature in many cars. My brother's esteem does not have it.

My petra does.

Only few cars have this stoppers. My Palio's door's can be ajar at 3 stages but the Astra and the Zen dont have this feature. This feature is helpful at times.

The thing is, WagonR HAS this feature... but not mine.. or so it seems.. :(

In baleno, this feature is available in 2 stages... it is useful in general, but at times its a trouble when there is another vehicle or wall close by. you have to hold them with little force to avoid doors getting banged!
