Umm, while we all do not necessarily stick to the posted speed limits, its probably not worth gloating over either right ? I mean there are numerous laws of the (any) land that are not sensible, at least to some people, but till you get that to change, through votes/campaigns/smarter regulations, you still need to abide by them.
Granted, its a tough ask to stick to 60kmph on expressways, but then 130 is probably not smart on most roads including 4 laners either, and certainly not something to be proud of as being defiant of the law. While I indulge in higher than posted limits too given practical considerations, its also acceptable to pay a fine when one is caught doing it.
More importantly, as a community, is there a way we can explore ways to have more sensible and practical limits (100/120 depending on the stretch), and parallely have heavy fines for crossing the limits by >10kmph, bald tyres etc ? Some interaction with those incharge of highway rules may be a good, of frustrating effort. With no effort its not worth cribbing about.

I have the detect + scramble radar detector it does an awesome job... i usually slow down if a gun is detected cause cops can pull you over if they think you are going to fast (they might not give you speeding ticket but will definately ticket you for some other voilation like rash driving or something). Radar detectors are not illegal in most states ... i think only 5 or 6 states have regulations against radar detectors in US

However in my experience its not as good for city use cause they pick up all sorts of rays (like microwave) and keeps beeping.

hey dapilot, which radar+scrambler do u have??? mine goes off even when i drive by walmart (the automatic doors at the entrance) .
is the valentine one any good? though it dosent scramble, only detects

Its best to trail another car/bus/truck in front of you to avoid such traps. As khaadu said delhi with its wide roads and all you can always keep an eye out of a bunch of cars + cop cars on the road side a few hundred meters ahead of you, if you see something like that slow down

its much better 2 stick 2 60 kmph and improve ur fuel efficiency as well

the reason why they have 60kmph limit is because if they have different limits in different parts of the city people will keep pleading ignorance. i know its very hard sometimes 2 not cross 60 but its important in a city.

The speed limit is 50kph on delhi roads... i got fined for 60kph in the early days of speedguns on delhi roads, now they let off upto 60kph. National Highways the speed limit is 60kph.

I was once doing 160kph on a deserted sunny afternoon on Nelson Mandela rd from vasant kunj to vasant vihar, when i saw a couple of cops stting in the central barricade with their speedgun.... the other two were waiting a few hundred meters down the road... but i guess i didnt give them enough reaction time to realise what happened when i flew by them! Hah!

Yeah autopsyche I was doing about 150kph on the same road. They did see me.. but didnt really react.

The other time i was doing 130 or so, n they caught me. Damm gotta drive faster ;-)

But the odd part is that they clocked me at 83kmph. Later they told me that i'd have to pay 1000 bucks cos I was over over 80. I mean ***. Finally paid 150 and left.

I was fined 400rs on 01/01/2006. Of course I was speeding on my avenger. I tried to tell them that I was doing 60-70 and that I wont get mileage if i do high speeds on a bike like this and bla bla. All to duff ears :( In the end, i had to pay and showed them a finger as they wont stop speeding Merc etc ( which I overtook sometime b4 ) .

I duno about valentine... but the best ones are Cobra, Escort, & Whistler.

I have an Escort Passport 8500. Also have a seperate jammer module that I hardly use (I probably used it once last year). I would not recommend anyone to use a Jammer thou for multiple reasons... for starters if the cop comes to know you have a jammer you will surely get some serious tickets + license suspension in many cases.

Most detectors come with City/Highway mode so keep it on City mode while driving around town... this will ignore certain known rays like the automatic door.

Actually the cops were correct, over 80kph comes under the "Dangerous Driving" clause which attracts an additional fine to a total of Rs.1000.

i belive there are few radars avelable in USA.
They starts beeping the moment some one tries to aim the radar gun in your direction...
it beeps faster if its getting closer...
so the moment you start hearing the beeps slow down...
