Yesterday at Shell outlet, the guy there was not ready to believe that my Petra is a petrol one. He asked me couple of times whether I really wanted Petrol and later was smelling the fuel tank lid
Anyway, at shell, they annonce details like Petrol /diesel, regular/super, quantity etc. loud before start filling.

Just get your tank drained professionally, fill with petrol, and thats it.

In fact, the latest fifth gear episode showed what would happen if you fill in the wrong kind of fuel. They tried diesel in a petrol ford escort, and petrol in a diesel opel astra...no problems at all

however they did agree that with more modern deisels, there could be an issue...but for petrol engines, it is just fine
