Speed-sensing Auto door lock issue (after ICE install)

Hi guys,

After an audio install yesterday , there is a weird problem that has cropped up in a friend's Altis.

The install was a simple HU+1amp+sw set up and wiring adapters were used.

The issue on hand is when the car touches 30kmph the speed sensing door lock cuts in but there is a lock-unlock-lock unlock kind of noise - i can feel the door motors locking and then the noise starting.However,after 60kmph all is well.

Return to 30kmph after that and there is still no problem.

stop the car , unlock , set off and the same phonomenon repeats.

What could the issue be?

Does the Altis speed sensing lock actuate via some speed sensor or via the speedo?

None of the wires were spliced.

What additional stuff was installed:

* steering control interface(dhc) - socket-socket
* damping of front doors
* new horns in stock location - just plug and play

What makes you associate the problem with Speed-dependent door locking?

From what you have described, simple thinking points to the possibility of a loose connection or intermittence with the door latch solenoid. This could have happened during or after the damping application.

Basically the symptoms are that the speed sensing door lock locks, unlocks, then locks again and then stays locked?

If this is so just have the audio installer open the door and make sure the damping is not interfering with the door mechanisim. The motor must be working to lock the door and something mechanical is preventing this.

Re: Speed-sensing Auto door lock issue (after ICE install)

just to update you all that the problem has been solved ; the damping was removed , and redone.

The door lock motor cable is like the Bajaj scooter clutch cable - cylindrical heads and cable running inside a sleeve.

Looks like there was some obstruction caused by the damping to the open cable(approx 2inches length at the door lock lever).

And I can associate this with the slightly thick damping - approx 2-3mm thick.

Thanks Da and Navinji.

Re: Speed-sensing Auto door lock issue (after ICE install)

Hello All,

i have a Corolla Altis, 2011 model, D4DG. Today all of a sudden the speed sensing door locks stopped working. Usually when the car reaches the doors are automatically locked and cannot be unlocked while the car is moving. However, today the doors can be unlocked while the car is moving. I didn't install or uninstall anything in the car, nor was there any other work done.
Please advise if there is something I can check or do to fix this.
