Hey , i have used some rian X Type prodcut

Works well eniuff, dont expect crystal clear results thats all

I iuse it on my sideview mirrors, Rear winscreen, and front side mirros and can see any oncoming traffic clearly enuff

The Cigarette stuff works well too, but since i'm not a smoker..........BUt i have used it very effectively

Learnt something new with the detergent..

Oy 2L8, cut the guy some humour slack!!

Here's what I do:

On the outside of the glass (all glass surfaces, including mirrors), after a thorough wash (with Prill), I apply Rain - X and allow it to dry. On the inside, I clean the surfaces with "Colin glass cleaner" (blue liquid what comes in a plastic spray on bottle).

While it is raining / humid outside, I switch the HVAC system to "demist" mode (that's the grill with squiggly lines symbol on my AC controls) and run the AC compressor. The cooling produced by the AC dries the air (water condenses and drips out of the AC drain when the air is cooled) ... if the car starts getting too cold inside or the windows start misting up from outside, I slide the "hot - cold" lever to somewhere near the center mark on the cold side, so that the dried, cold air is warmed slightly before exiting the vents.

That usually keeps the temp under control and also keeps my glasses clear of mist both from inside and outside.

It works great over a certain speed.

I've heard anything that creates a slippery coat can work as Rain-X or other stuff!!
Like rubbing a cut potato on the windscreen or an onion
Anything that remains clear and has the property to displace water will work..

I am thinking of using Oil as it does displace water,but it does get dirty and is hard to remove it from the surface..

Any one can experiment different oils which remain clear and dont attract dirt!!
How about hair gel!!

Oil on the windscreen?!? Unless you drive on a velvet table in a dust proof booth, please PLEASE do not do that.

SRK people generally want to CLEAN THEIR SCREENS of all the oil and grime that gets on there while driving!!

Guys
I've started getting a very peculiar problem with my windscreen. When I use my wipers I find a very hazy trail that is left behind by the wipers. But it disappears in two seconds and my screen is clear. This is ok when it is drizzling, but in heavy rain the wipers are working constantly so there is always a hazy cover on my screen. I thought this was due to using the car wash I use (Formula One car wash). but that does not seem to be the case. It is very irritating especially if you are on driving on high way or something coz you can't see the road for a few seconds...any ideas or solutions I can try?
BTW No fogging inside if I switch on my demist.!

Can't be sure of your case... but .. in rain with demister its not fogging inside.. but fogging outside... ... try not using too much AC... and avoid using it on the windscreen.
