Yes, the XDS settings are available in the TSI only - not in the standard polo/vento.

I guess is it to do with a newer control module? maybe. Can you let me know which VCDS are you using?

That's because the other models lack ESP. Only the Polo/Vento TSI gets ESP. The others get just ABS. And XDS is linked to ESP.

Need a help in setting XDS in my Polo GT TSi.

I have currently changed the following
- Expanded Electronic Differential Lock - Strong
- Hydraulic Brake Assist - Early

But, could not find XDS in the VCDS(v12.12.0) menu. Can you please let me know where to find this setting?

03-ABS Brakes > Adaptation-10

Enter Channel 36 for XDS and 09 for Brake Assist. It may not show from the drop-down list on top. You need to manually enter the values on the box.

Thanks Gannu, I will check this in the evening.

One more issue:
During the "Port test", I get the "Status: Questionable" and "K1:Short to Ground". Even with this error, I am able to set the parameters using the VCDS.

Anybody else is having this problem??

I could think of following problems
1) Fault in the Cable:
May be there is some problem with the cable. Next time when I meet someone with the VCDS cable(may be robi), I will check the same.
2) Fault in the car:
Only thing I have done is changed the head light bulbs. May be there is some short circuit.

XDS = Expanded Electronic Differential Lock. Setting it to strong is all that needs to be done

Did you run the test without connecting the cable to the OBD port? This happened with me when I had connected the cable to the USB port on the laptop but the other end (OBD male) was not connected to the car’s OBD port.

Please run the test again, after connecting both the ends, turn the key to IGNITION. The LEDs would flick red and green when you run the test.

This has nothing to do with the errors. The cable works as it is intended to.

I had connected both ends(and also ignition was ON), and I also get the green light in the OBD connector end :-(

This happens if cable if Clone. It will work though.

I usually get this query, but its safe to proceed.
However do not update the software over internet and/or flash Cable with new FW. It will brick it.

Changing tone/volume of the buzzer for the reverse assist:

Adaptation - 10:

Speaker frequency/Speaker volume for rear park assist are the options for changing the tone and volume respectively:

Guys, Yesterday I again tried to look for the XDS. But I could not find XDS setting(i.e 03-ABS Brakes > Adaptation-10>Channel 36) using my VCDS(v12.12.0). So assume "Expanded Electronic Differential Lock" is a synonym for the XDS. If anybody finds it out about the "XDS" please let us know.

I could do the following changes to my Polo TSi using the VCDS(and they are working fine)
1) Increased the lane change indicator blinking
2) Enabled the indicator celebration/Needle Sweep
3) Changed the "mute" key in the steering to "Push to Talk"
4) Enabled the "Accoustic(horn) Locking confirmation", did not like so disbaled again.
5) Enabled "tear wiping"
6) Enabled the "Emmergenecy Flashing(indicator) during the hard braking"
7) Enabled the "Emmergenecy Flashing(tail lamps) during the hard braking"
8) Changed the brake settings
- "Hydraulic Brake Assist" to "Early"
- "Expanded Electiorinic differential Lock" to "Storng"
9) Changed the "speaker volume for the rear park assist"

Are there multiple ways to do this? I tried enabling the "Staging" option but it would not accept the new value.

Yep, check for the Indicator Celebration option in the drop down menu. Should be there towards the end.

Thanks, will try that out. The option is already enabled in my GT TDI, was trying to do this in my parents' petrol highline Polo.

PS: That was a lighting quick response

after reading through i understand that xds is related to esp. and that xds is listed as expanded electronic differential lock in vcds

however I'm curious & confused...

1. does xds improve braking or does it improve handling/steering feel ?

2. why isn't it set to strong by default in the first place ?

thanks.
