Something has been bothering me for some time now:
A couple of weeks ago, on a news channel, they were telling people about how one can maintain one's car(s) well, and they said that the wheels should be exactly perpendicular to the road and have absolutely no camber, to avoid wandering.

Is this true?

While camber reduces contact area, i don't think it should affect straight line stability that much.

As long as both front tyres have the same toe angles, the car shouldn't wander. Toe-in is preffered for straight line stability while toe-out is prefered for cornering stability.

On an Oval track, you can use toe-in on one tyre and toe-out on the other (depending on which way the track turns). Usually seen on Indy cars.
