car care

Hi guys.

The fact is i have never touched anything inside a car's hood. but now i am planning to. Is there a basic discussion on car care? (tricks and tips etc), I did a search but did not find a good thread.

I am looking for
1. basic stuff like gauging and replacing oil/filter etc.
2. getting to know about the internals, in case i am stranded somewhere with a problem.
3. winter care, which will be required in 2 months (from the point of view of North east of USA).

Just for the records, i have a 02 mitsubishi galant.

Try get the servicing manual for the galant at your local auto parts store - autozone, napa etc. Many of the auto parts stores have these manuals. If you get one for the galant, you would have a [condensed] bible for your car.

Re: car care

Hi Guys,

I have sprinkles of paint on the hood of my car. I was about to start to the office and I noticed them. My watchman says he doesn't know how it happened. So I suspect GOD or probably I did it when I was sleep walking or my car is suffering from Measles.

They are really minute but since it's a sprinkle, there are around 1000 dots. I'm not sure how to get rid of them without damaging the paint.

Is there any car care product that I can try?

Thanks a lot.

MODs: Kindly move the post if it's in the wrong thread. Thanks in advance.

Re: car care

Hi Xydon,

Similar thing happened to my car while the building was being painted. Took it to the friendly neighbourhood MASS and they did a machine polish (detailing) and she's back to her shiny self. Please dont try any DIY you could end up with a lot of scratches.

If there is a 3M care center in your area, they can do it for you!

Cheers,

Hi Spookey,

Thanks a lot. Looks like MASS is the rescue team for now.

Hi Volkman10,

I'm not sure about the 3M care. Would find out.

I just hope I loose these soon.

Thanks for your replies. Appreciate it.
