Hard Clutch on the Baleno

Hi Friends,

I have been using my Baleno for 4 months now, all this while I have ignored the clutch system on this car, but it seems that the car has a very sluggish-hard clutch, my car was not driven for months and was stagnant at one place, so I thought replacing the clutch cable was a good idea and I did replace. Still the clutch is very hard, have you found the same problem?
Infact I checked few other cars in the garage, almost all cars had the same problem... can you let me know your thoughts on clutch in Baleno? And is there anyway to make this smoother?

Thanks

Yea i agree, I find my Baleno clutch pedal much harder to press compared to my Esteem. I think its pretty much the same in all the Baleno's, dunno the reason though!

Cheers

yup.. don't know why.. but it seems some cars just have heavy clutches.
My WagonR's clutch is very very light... and the Alto with same engine and gearbox has a considerably (compare with WagonR) heavy clutch.

The NHCs clutch though hydraulic is not effortless.

But then one can get used to anything..... people do drive Tata cars after all.

Ofcourse I would'nt call it light like my lancers hydraulic clutch..! But not much different from a wagon r feel...! slightly harder...!
Initially the clutch system is hard, But I guess with usage it becomes softer or just a mind perception..!

Guess you guys have not tried cars from the fiat stable then....I had a uno for 6 years and the Baleno's clutch does not even require 30% of the effort compared to the Hydraulic jack that you have to move in the Uno. Palios have pretty heavy clutches too!!

Hard clutch ?!!!

I'm surprised you felt the Baleno's clutch is hard. I've never felt
so, -- rather I feel it is just right, effortless even ! Admittedly,
the feeling is rather subjective, -- depends on your reference
too! But all my previous experiences were with automatics, so
if my first clutch doesn't bother me ..... :-).

Gears are not that great !

Yeah, I agree. Especially the reverse, which misses at times.
The only slots that are effortless, are 3rd and 4th. Thankfully,
that's where I spend most of the time with Baleno.

The Baleno's clutch is indeed hard...

I think that the gearbox is extremely hard too in the baleno.. it lightens up after replacing the clutch plate and pressure plate, but after 500kms, it again becomes rock solid.. There was a noticable difference after I used Bardhal gear oil additive!

are any of you facing the problem of a hard gearbox in your Balenos

I too had some initial problems with 5th and the reverse, but that was in the first 1000 odd kms.
Almost 7000 kms on the odo now. The gears slot in smoothly and the clutch feels effortless. I guess there's an element of getting used to it too.

clutch cables are hard now because its a mgp cable which is available in market. if you manage a sgp cable it will be smooth as before. i tested them and have put back old sgp cable even though it makes sqeeking noise. you can also route the present cable as straight as possible and see the difference. the hardness increases with increasing twist and turns with mgp one. this one presently available is actually of esteem. you will also notice the replacement one is short in length.
