Nowadays most cars have that black[some have body coloured ones] beading on the doors.People tell it is to protect the car from scrathes.

I would like to know if this is true and how exactly it could protect from scrathes.

Is this such a big problem to find out all by yourself? What's so technical in this? Please use your obsevation power to find out why?
