Hi all,
I own a Santro XG which is a shade over a year old. Recently, my front seats have started making an irritating "creaking" noise which refuses to go away. I went to a couple of Hyundai workshops and a local mechanic. They did the same thing - take the seat out, grease the joints, tighten everything and stick it back in. Solved the problem for a day or so, then the noise came back.
Any idea what the cause could be, and what the solution is? I'm getting fed up of this sound.
Also, any idea if seats can be replaced in the warranty period?
Any help will be appreciated...
Thanks!

got everything greased up... but to no effect.
another point to consider... my car did take a dunking in a recent flood, where some water came into the cabin. could this be a factor?

Squeeky Seats.

Hi,
My best openion would be to install a loud music system so that it drowns out the sound of the squeeky seats or just instal a loud exhaust....
Just kiddin,
the noise probably is from where u fit the screws below to tighten the seats, Do not greese it rather have a carpet piece with a hole between placed under the seat before u tighten the screw, It will stop the noise,Do not let the metal that is your seat and your body of the car touch when the screw is fitted by placing that Carpet piece .

cheers.

@n_crazy: heh, its ironical... this car hasn't seen many "naughty deeds" and the seats creak, while my old santro was a veteran in that field and didn't utter a squeak
@wildthing: thanks for the suggestion... will see if that helps.

@razor4077: Had the same problem. It stems from either:
#1. Your seat track bolts which attatch the seat to the car; or
#2. Springs below / within the seat foam.

If it's #1, then a piece of flat carpet between the bolts & the body should do it.
If #2, then WD40 sprayed every once in a while.

And yes, turning up the volume on your ICE generally drowns out the squeaks / rattles / sounds, though it's a bad idea when you want some peace.

Bumping up an old thread, albeit with a tad different problem.

Is there a way to make the santro seats more comfortable ? I tried adding some 'foam' for cushion (an inch, at the back and the seat) but it doesnt really help. On the contrary it has reduced the 'seating area'.

I am looking for some good contoured seats here (spoilt by the Fabia).

Are the OE foam blocks available to be replaced directly (either of the same car or some other better 'seated' cars ) ?

Would appreciate some ideas / thoughts ?
