Not that far away considering you've responded to this thread after 2.5 years !
Actually I ready about it 2 years back and suddenly felt like checking if any progress has happened lately, So googled it and one of the links was our own T-BHPs

Why doesn't somebody else do it for $150/- ?
There are things which take time to invent but can be easily copied by others (by reverse engineering), such stuff you would find easily - mostly china made or Ulhasnagar item.

And then there are things which require lot of time to invent but they are not easily copiable, such things you would not find and will typically continue to earn a premium for a long time.

Chips and bose suspension come in later category...

By the time this gets into a production car, Mercedes' Active Body Control would have taken the game away. Various iterations of it would also be running in the japs.

A fundamental difference remains - Bose is NOT using hydraulics.
Eventually, as always, it is not necessarily the better technology that will will but the more savvy marketing approach. (Do recall the Mac vs PC drama from almost 3 decades ago - Apple goofed up).
So we must eagerly await the outcome of this tussle!

Re: So you thought BOSE only made music systems?

Reviving the thread. I hear that ages ago he wanted to set up a speaker factory in India. Bharat Sarkar would not allow him to import the woods he required.

Re: So you thought BOSE only made music systems?

Just bumping an interesting thread (After driving an Audi RS7 in Frankfurt from a friends' Car rentals) Was stunned by the stability and compsure the car caressed the turns and bumps. I actually hit a 3-4 inches pothole at a speed of 120 KMpH and i just felt a thud as if my car ran over a stone

Its more than a decade since the first video of the BOSE Active Suspension came out and we are still waiting to make it atleast on luxury cars. But sadly came to know from my friend that it is still in concept phase and is on use currently as an active Seat Suspension System on Heavy Trucks

Was wondering, what will be the dealership name if MARUTI fits the Bose System in it's so called NEXA cars

That is so sad... owning a car with that suspension setup will now be just a dream.

Why can't they use it for those super expensive cars?

I expect corporate changes esp after the death of the genius Dr Amar Bose. The vision is likely to change.

An update:

Bose sold off its tech and patents for the suspension to ClearMotion last year, and this year the latter has been working to bring it in to the market. Here's the link:

Re: Fun & Interesting Trivia on the Indian Car Scene

Found this interesting trivia on the web (lkdn):

This technology claims to make a car last much longer and ride smoother. ClearMotionInc bought out Bose's eye-popping suspension system and raised $155 million to commercialise it.
