no guys,
just done with few diagrams in the CAD.
we had two marriages in our family in the last two months, was tied up with work.
also the other guys in the team got jobs recently, so they need some time to settle in their jobs, after which we will complete the design process, and head to prototyping.
I guess this will take a whole year. So may be for the speedrun 2008.
Also I was thinking about, " isnt the idea of a dragster a bit drastic, isnt it better to start of with a hot-rod rather than a dragster as rightly pointed out by one of the bhpians "
Also wondering whether there are any dragsters in india. As to start a class in speedrun, there should be atleast 3 cars.
Any idea on this my dear fellow bhpians. I happen to read about an auto entusiats, who designed India's first GT, known as Jayaram GT. His grandson happens to be a Bhpian. I read that this man used to make dragsters in india way back in 70's or may be in 80's. Does anyone have any information about this???

You don't need a separate class. You can run in Indian Open and Unrestricted.

Viper,
He cant run dragsters in the Indian Open as only production cars are allowed.. Only option is the Unrestriced class..

III Indian Open
Production Indian car body with Indian engines (head, block & gearbox casing). 2 drivers per car are allowed.

9.3 Unrestricted Class.
This class is open to all Indian cars with foreign engines, foreign cars and Specials, single seater and non-production vehicles.
2 drivers per car are allowed.

Right, there was some confusion about that last year. While the SR said this, the schedule of events for the day mentioned Indian Open - PB/DS, where DS would be Drag Special. I don't know if this year will be different. Still, thanks for pointing that out.

Last weekend was real nightmare for residents at Navi Mumbai especially at Belapur and Kharghar, with drag motorists practicing from early hours of the day, waking up the peaceful locality !!

Hi 101,

Sounds hot. Is there much of a top fuel drag scene there though?

This drag in India is called "Speedrun". You can find threads about it in the "Motorsports Section".

Over 8000 HP. Quarter mile in 4.5 seconds, @330mph. Awesome, ain't it?

Insideline has a feature on US Army sponsored Top Fuel dragster.
