Can someone list out which Indian vehicles (current, or recently discontinued) have/ had multilink bonnet hinges. And pictures of those, if possible.

What I have observed is that, with some designs, it's a necessity. The shape of the fender, windshield, bonnet (Both Fiesta and Superb got clamshell bonnet) and the overall clearances available decides that.

With multilink, the bonnet pushes a little forward and opens. This helps to clear the very sloping windshield and the lid is almost perpendicular to the ground when it's fully open. Gives more accessibility to the engine bay.

Also, one don't need to bear the entire weight of the bonnet while opening as it's always supported by two legs on either side.

I guess the first car in India to have these was the Mercedes W124.

Talk of being overengineered!
Actually the first in India I think would be the American cars, late 40s-early 50s.
Currently in the homegrown crop, off the top of my head, would be Aria, Storme, XUV (I think).

Long back I remember seeing a VW with a very lightweight multilink boot hinge. I think it was the Passat, not too sure.

I was actually trying to list all the multilink hinges which one could buy as spares here in India now. Spring type, not gas strut type. Not too difficult designing and making a one off. Will work, but look crude. Sourcing the spring would be another matter altogether.
