Help: Palio AC not working

Since last week, AC in my 2 years old Palio D stopped worked. When the AC is switched on, there is no chilled air coming out but there is hissing sound like there is some leakage. Blower seems to be working fine.

Yesterday took it to Anuroop in Hyderabad and they felt Cooling coil to be the culprit. They want me to leave the car for a complete 3 days with them to identify and fix this problem. If the whole cooling coil has to be replaced, the part alone costs RS. 8000. Later i took it to a mechanic i know and specialises in Fiat cars. He mentioned that replacing a few pipe lines in the coil may solve the problem along with filling the coolant gas.

Any suggestions on what i should do?

Thank you

Three days to diagnose and fix an AC problem is beyond absurd!

Satish, I suggest you take your car to the AC mech on the Lower Tank Bund road and have him check it out as well.

A hissing sound from inside the dash, is usually caused by a leak in the cooling coil. I got my cooling coil changed just 45 days ago. Yo have a choice between a Subros coil-4k, an imported equivalent-4.5k and the imported OE coil, which is about 5.5K. I know this cos my classmate is one of the biggest auto parts retailer here. I got the Subros coil and my AC is working fine. Replacement and gas bill was 1.8K.
I really don't think a few of the pipes alone can be changed and it may be an attempt to aluminium weld the coil. Not a good idea at all.

Thanks Jyobeb for the info.
Is Subros OEM vendor for Fiat for Cooling coils? What brand is the original coil that comes with the car? What brands are the one that cost 4.5 K and 5.5 K?
