The best-looking Engine Bays among Indian cars

Credit for giving me the idea of this thread goes to GTO. He picked up on this thread and asked me create a thread on same topic for Indian cars as well.

So here it goes, below are a few pics from my side of some of the good looking engine bays of a few Indian cars, most are copied from our Team BHP official reviews.

Here is one of my favorite of the Indian cars, Punto Abarth! Awesome looking bay with its 1.4L Tjet engine. Imagine this engine in the bay of old gen Punto exteriors in red!

Pretty close is Mahindra's 2.2L mHawk in an XUV500, a tight and snug fit! Looks pretty neat as well!

Ford's awesome 5.0 V8 in a Mustang.

Renault Duster's engine bay. Neat and Tidy!

Hyundai's best looking engine bay in India. Santa Fe's 2.2L motor.

Here is Maruti S Cross's 1.6L unit.

I think Honda's engines look pretty decent too. Here is one from my previous ride, Civic 1.8.

For the Big Ones on offer in India, here are a few interesting ones (Not including the supercars etc).

Mercedes GLC's engine bay.

Audi A6 Matrix's mill.

Range Rover's SuperCharged V8 below.

What I have noticed about engine bays of most common cars is that the engine cover plays a big role to make the engine bay a lot neat and tidy; and in MOST cases, diesel cars have engine covers than their petrol counterparts! So while these oil burners with an engine cover do look more aesthetically pleasing, but the engine cover's primary function is to provide sound dampening! (source)

So, tell us which car in India, according to you, has best looking engine bay. Do share pics if you like.

Re: The best-looking Engine Bays among Indian cars

Interesting thread!

I really like Audi's A8 Engine Bay, has a pretty slick and clean look. Even City and 520d's Engines Bays look pretty good, will add pics for the two once I wash them up, they're horrifically dirty as of now.

Nice thread, great idea.

I must admit I love looking under the hood and when I’m looking at cars, I will look under the hood before I look inside the cabin.

I always think the way the engine bay looks like says a lot about how the car was designed and or how well it was maintained.

All these plastic cover do spoil the aesthetics I believe, I like my engines “raw”.

Re: The best-looking Engine Bays among Indian cars

I am partial to the cars I own but they truly are beautiful in my eyes.

The Palio 1.6 16V. The Plastic manifold with runners and the spark plug cables that twist amongst themselves and look like snakes in a mating ritual.

The Mitsubishi Cedia; not much to say except everything looks pretty and very functional.

Something about that Audi....the engine bay is a work of art. Clean like their exterior styling. Obviously the work of a perfectionist.

Also like the XUV500's tidy engine bay & the Santa Fe's, while the Aria's engine cover is fantastic! Looks really cool.

Here's a mean looking one from the Rage Cyclone

I agree with Jeroen, with those plastic covers on top , we ought to be judging on the best looking engine cover, not the engine bay.

A plastic cover on top of the engine is like what happens in a bachelor's place, whenever some guests come, we just scoop up everything and tuck it under the cot. TADA!

Re: The best-looking Engine Bays among Indian cars

Best looking engine bays are also very likely to be the most loved engine bay of rats in India. Once those critters get into such tightly packed engine bays, it would be very difficult to shoo them away.

Aren't these vehicles difficult to work on for mechanics? Not the usual servicing bits - but something like replacement of a rubber component after a rat attack!

Duster no longer has this engine bay, otherwise I would have not criticized them so much on this forum.
Photos from the current Indian made Duster, take a look

Re: The best-looking Engine Bays among Indian cars

Here's my City's dirty Engine Bay. It's quite a spacious and practical looking Engine Bay I'd say. I love that I-VTEC badging, for many obvious reasons!
Excuse the bad picture quality, was taken in dark, with flash.

Each to it’s own, not wanting to offend or anything and all of that, but could you elaborate; what do you think is so particular beautiful?

All I see is just a huge piece of plastic? There is hardly an actual engine piece in sight?
