Rs.200 to clean my K&N filter!! OK?

the filter instructions i guess are to be followed to get the total life out of the filter. Yes;similarly your car manual tells you to use only genuine air filter to get the most out of the engine....But do we listen?....

its a Bosch Service centre on bellary road, SHP autoservices......opp the sahakarnagar road, next to the gas station....you will see Bosch service centre and a small lane.there's also a K&N banner hanging.

well thats true! you got me!!

but the truth is we do stuff to our cars keeping in mind the fact, that i want the best for it and when i see something thats really good and right, maybe i decide to go for it, like we all do and then comes the bling factor!
well again i guess your right in your own way about who we do overlook certain things!!!

its good to get it cleaned every 10 k kms....in mumbai they charge rs 50 or max 100 to clean it....it needs to be cleaned with special k&n oil

If you look at service manuals of most cars, they recommend air filter cleaning at 5000kms for dusty use and around 10,000kms for non dusty use. I guess similar cleaning cycle can be followed for K&N

December ACI, page 94: 70000kms for normal roads, 35000-45000kms for dusty roads. Way off from 3000.

and Stevie, from what I remember from looking at your car, u had the airbox covering still intact, meaning your K&N was probably exposed to less harshness from the environment. Am I right? Or have u made it an open system yet?

Where are these numbers coming from?

Guys, please don't pull numbers out of the hat. When you suggest a number, please mention how you got them, mention the source or your own long experience. These kind of figures have to come from the long experience of using K&N filter or by the manaufacturers or vendors.

I have done more than 10k with my k&n, (Conical with intake) - did not refer to the booklet though.. Did it because it was really dusty..

I have read this before and recently Sideways mentioned it too. K&N filters are more efficient when they are dirty. That means frequent cleaning is actually counter-productive.

Err...... Why do you say that samurai??? If the filter is dirty then it will limit the amount of air being sucked in rite??

Actually I don't why, but that is what I have heard. I am hoping somebody else here will enlighten us.
