Totally agreed . But that's the case with insurance too, no? Where they count wear & tear (on some parts, you lose 50% in a very short while). Similarly, in some cases where tyres have been replaced under warranty, I have heard of pro-rated price adjustments by the manufacturer.
I guess something is better than nothing. But this has been my biggest grouse with automotive parts and warranty. Like your article on extended warranty on new cars, in most cases it is not a mirror of the original warranty. There are lots of terms and conditions which exclude wear and tear parts.
I have not been a big fan of Exide. All of the batteries which have lasted long for me are Amaron.

Re: Exide launches Epiq battery with 6-year warranty

Got an Exide Epiq DIN74 with 36+30 warranty in Hyderabad at 8700 for my Jetta. Was earlier on Exide Red from 2016 which was replaced FOC in 2018. Yes, too soon but went ahead anyway as in the recent past the word has been good about Exide.

36+30 only ? Has Exide reduced the warranty by 6 months ?

I was also surprised. Online it still says 77 months (42+35). I think it depends on the price we pay. I checked the box as well, it had 36 months. Registered online.

Apologies for bumping up this thread, could not find another one for what I was looking for. I am looking for a new battery for my 2013 i20 CRDi. It has had only 1 battery replacement till now and that was in 2016. The replacement battery which was a Exide Matrix has lasted 7 years now mostly in stop/go city traffic. Impressive to say the least. Is the Epic as capable as this and is the Matrix/Epic still available at 68Ah?
