Wagon R Gear box problems

Hi Team-bhpn's,
This is my first post here, I got a new wagonr vxi last week . After driving around a bit i feel that the gear box is not very refined. I have problems shifting reverse gear and shifting from first to second at times . I have been driving a santro before this.

I am not sure this problem is specific to my car or its a know issue with the new wagonr's . Is there any body here who is facing the same . I just want to make sure about this before i go and speak to the dealer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

@prashant... Its a problem with the car, the gearbox in the new wagon-r is the worst in any maruti, infact the worst in its class.

I sometimes face the same problem in my Xing. Its occurs mostly when the enjine is cold.
You can get the clutch inspected.

The wagonR gearbox is not the best in class... However, i feel that the gearbox gets better after some running...

My wagonR has run 28k kms, and the gearbox is good now... Not as good as swift or other cars... But, doesnt gives problems too...

Chill out.....Dude, learn to live with the WR gearbox !!!

The un-refined gearbox is the trademark of all WR's.

But recently I had driven a WR which had cloaked about 44K KMS and the gear-shifts were comparatively better compared to the brand new ones. After about 10,000 KMS your gearbox will become smoother than the current setup.

Other than this, the WR is a perfect car in all respects.

Yup... Its a wake up call all right...

The gearbox is not at all perfect, but will get better after sometime...

But, the gear ratios, i feel are the best in any hatch... it just matches the engine nature superbly... I had a ride to the hills last week, and the car pulled steep inclines in fourth gear , at speeds of 40 around... (Where the roads were good)

I was really surprised by the way in which the car handled the hills... We had 7 people in the car including 1 kid. and climbing the inclines in fourth gear was something i never expected...

Only other disadvantage i felt is that the front right A piller is a bit too thick to take the corners aggressively... Other than these two small disadvantages, am totally in love with the car...

I've never thought that WR was such a good worker. Pretty impressive !!!

And what was the state of suspension under a load of 7 people ? Does it scrape the ground due to the weight ?

Its 7 people, including a kid...

The suspension, didnt bottom out cause i took the potholes real carefully... I had recently swapped to tubeless tyres on stock steel rims... The rims could get bend on a big impact... So, i was real careful on potholed roads...

Prashanth as everyone has already told that the WagonR gearbox is not very refined. however if it's unusually hard. you could get this checked up.
Also since your car is new and not run in the gearbox hasn't opened up yet and will be on the harder side.
You can wait till the 1000kms service to see if it improves.
