8v esteem engine to 16v dohc

Hi,
all suzi geeks please help me.

Is it possible to convert the 8v g13a sohc engine to a 16v g13b dohc engine and run it with a carb setup with out hiccups?

please list out the things that would have to be replaced if this is possible.

if the above is not possible can the 16v esteem engine run on a carb setup with out hiccups.

any information about contacts to buy/ship the parts would also help.

finally any information about the pricing would also help.

cheers.

heavy foot i think the best person to talk to in this regard would be viper. if i remember correctly he had dropped a dohc 16v engine into an esteem a while ago....... and it worked without uch to complain about.

PM him for details.

A few amateur queries
1) 8v engine, i guess i'm wrong, but i thought that every cylinder has 4 valves, and esteem engine have 4 cylinders. So how come 8v
2) SOHC and DOHC, i know it has something to do with the cam shafts, but whats the difference and which provides better performance. Which is in the Swift engine?

viper had a twin cam setup in his esteem...i am talking about converting the esteem engine to a dohc...not sure if anyone has done it here or if its possible.
favouring the carb is only because as far as i understand its a lot more simpler and cost effective...and can be tuned and reparied at the local road side garage since the car is going to be used in a small town.

please leave in your valuable inputs.

Hi,

Yes I had a Twin Cam Carb Setup on my ex Esteem. There are at least 5 Zens running the setup to the best of my knowledge in Mumbai. 2 are running on Carbs while the other 3 are MPFI. Its a fairly straight forward engine swap in either M1000/Esteem/Zen or Swift.

Only thing you need to worry about is the setup and carb matching/jetting & balancing. Other than that its like maintaining a regular car.
