Anurag.
Easiest way to add plugin or install app tweaked for a particular make-model which have detailed PIDs

http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Plugins
Also they can add it in main app if requested:
http://torque-bhp.com/software/torqu...d-pid-support/
Short Video on adding custom PID (gives fair idea ):

PIDs can be found via forum search or Professional Diagnostic tools Ilike Autocom CDP / Launch X431 / etc) display PID information which are manufacture specific.

Found a informative forum thread:

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Got one yesterday works like a charm with CRV, Polo GT Tsi. Would not budge on Gypsy MPFI 2000 model and Swift DDiS. Santro AT it connects to ECU but pretty much no readings coming up :P

Wanted it for the gyspy, so might put it in classifieds soon. Unless someone can help me with cracking the Gypsy/MUL code.

My 09 Ritz VXi works perfectly with ELM + Torque combo. The kmpl calculated values are way off, need to go through the whole thread to find out if it can be made better.

It works with MUL vehicles too. Check with the Gen2 Swift/DZire/Ertiga.

None of the OBD BT connectors I know work with the old gen Swift and few other old gen cars.

Works with BS4 versions in most MUL vehicles. They are Alto K10, WagonR K10, Estilo K10, A-star, Ritz, Gen2 Swift and Dzire, Ertiga, Sx4(vvt version), as well as imported vehicles.

ELM has a list of protocols that it can support in which the above cars use EOBD ISO9141 or ISO15765 protocols. The older cars use a Japanese one which is not supported by default. ELM327 also supports two custom protocols with user programmable settings. If that works, we can get data manually in a serial terminal. I will try doing that sometime once my exams get over and check if it works.

PS I am looking out for a bluetooth version. If you are not keeping it let me know.

Jaggu, could you share the link for the OBD adapter you've bought? I would like to see if it works with the GT TDI. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't, given it worked for the TSI.

Is the location for the OBD port somewhere near the steering wheel? What application was used to monitor the data?

I'd be much obliged if you could answer my queries. TIA!

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Slightly off topic - the ELM 347bluetooth dongle when I fitted into my 2011 SX4 ZXI VVT BS4, this is how it looked - ugly! Its hinders into the A-pedal/ right foot movement and ingress/ egress.

OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars-elm-dongle-so-close-1.jpg

Se how much it comes out -

OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars-elm-dongle-so-close-2.jpg

Clearly, manufacturer never expected to drive vehicle with any such diagnostic things attached there! So if i have to just use this while vehicle is stationary, its not great use

This is what i bought. Polo port is similar to that of SX4 posted above, only thing its horizontal and not vertical in positioning. I used Torque application on Samsung Tab.

Thanks Jaggu, but its an older version of protocols supported - v1.5. The one I bought has v2.1 support of protocols. So if I manage to sell what I have, I will get the mini one as you suggested.

Unfortunately, I have a Lumia 920 (WP8 device) and the OBD apps. are a little finicky going by the reviews. My roomie has an Android phone and tab however. Let us see how this goes.
