re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Hi Guys, Got my self a bluetooth elm 327 scanner. Tried it on my tata indigo. Here are the pics of the OBD port on the indigo found under the Passengers seat behind a small flap and concealed with a lil black box.

I too purchased an ELM 327 and using flawlessly with Torque.
Just a few doubts, Can I leave it permanently connected to the OBD port? Can it get damaged in the heat (locked car!) and if so can it mess with the ECU settings?

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Hey guys, I got an ELM 327 bluetooth OBD 2 scanner.

Well, the device works flawlessly with torque, but, I'm having problems installing it in my laptop.

However hard I try, I just cannot connect to the device. I have downloaded almost all the drivers and tried, but all of them fail. Windows accepts only one driver, which also, doesn't work.

but, I seriously doubt its the correct one.

Is there someone successfully using the same in Windows 7/Vista? If so, could you please guide me through the process.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Having confirmed that there is no possibility of having a scan gauge install possible on the Maruti vehicles. I was just wondering since my drive is now turbo charged and is running on a stand alone ECU ( Link G3) is it possible to have a scan gauge working connecting to this ECU as most of the functions minus the airconditioning has moved on to the stand alone ECU.
Guru's is there a possibility of having this going. If it a stupid question then please do advice why it is not possible.
Cheers...

I tried with Swift D and Ritz D using an ELM327 bluetooth adapter and an android device and the torque app. It worked on the Ritz D but not on the Swift D. I also tried on A-Star and SX4 ZXi without success.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Tried an ELM327 bluetooth scanner in three cars - my ASTar, our i10 1.2 and a friend's Fiesta 1.6. It works with both the i10 and the Fiesta but doesn't work with AStar. I'm putting that for sale soon.

In the Fiesa the OBD port is under the steering wheel inside a cover, and in the i10 the OBD port is below the fuse box flap and faces vertically down no need to open the fuse box flap on the dash. In the AStar its under the steering wheel towards the left.

Btw the Scangauge2 reportedly works with AStar and it might work with K series Swift and Ritz. PLX devices reportedly doesn't work.

Hi Dhanush, I didn't use the laptop, i used my Android phone with Dashcommand and Torque.

I haven't even tried installing the driver in my laptop since the supplied CD is 8cm and my laptop has a slot load type drive.

Hmm.. yes, Torque works flawlessly for me too.. The problem is that I dont have an Android phone. Do you have any idea about OBD readers for Symbian 5th edition?. (N97). Also, know someone who is reading the ELM327 bluetooth device on Windows?.

And, got your number from Eldhose. Will call sometime soon.

Thanks Digital Vampire!..

Well, One more issue. Please check my post. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ml#post2317637.

Do you think that the installed driver(automatically installed) is the right one?. Could you please check the driver if you have one installed?..

Thanks!

I use a USB OBD device and I don't have a BT OBD dongle to help you with accurate suggestions . But almost all BT dongles use simple Serial over BT methods; VCP's (virtual COM Ports) to connect and it should theoretically work flawlessly on Win7/Vista. I have tested my BT GPS on such VCP's without any issues. The only catch in your case might be Win7 and Vista uses its own BT stack which is not highly regarded.

Please use the trial version of BlueSoleil, the most easy-to-use, innovative and interoperable Bluetooth software, Bluetooth driver and see if it can help you set up a VCP.

You might have to play with the Baud Rate as well on Win7 stack and BueSoleil to see which setting gives you a robust link.

Eldhose is keeping well i guess
I had Race Chrono loaded in my N8, i think its available for Symbian 5th edition too. It has OBD2 logging but features not as extensive as dedicated OBD2 readers.
