When I took delivery of the swift in 2008, I noticed stickers on the ECU mentioning Magnetti Marelli. Since it is a FIAT developed engine, only FIAT's component suppliers should be supplying the parts, I guess.
waiting for your update

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

anybody tried PCMscan software?
its given me the best connectivity so far.
Plus its also got a dyno-test, and DRag thingy as well.
these to require a good long-ish run, and a partner in crime to work the laptop.
I clicked ok for the dyno thing, put the car 1st, 2nd, hit 50, and stopped.
i got a power(HP) reading of 17000 HP!!!
I shall be putting that up soon here!!

apparently you need to calibrate the car to the gear you'll do a 500-600m run in, then run the car upto 50-70 in that gear for a similar length.anything else messes up the readings, to the point that they return junk!
but still, hey, bragging rights!!

OBD power and torque figures are just crap. Caliberate the car and engine size, and you get slightly better crap.

AFAIK, the values are based upon calculations, and not sensors.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

@Kannan - Since you are in Chennai I was wondering if I could check if my 2003 Toyota Corolla accepts a ELM 327 Scanner. I was looking to buy a bluetooth model and hook it up to my android phone. PM me if you think we can meet up and check out if it works with my car. Thanks!

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

I always wanted to get a OBD Bluetooth scanner. Great to see this thread. If i remember correctly, Another Bhpian JayD had a bluetooth OBD scanner with an Android phone. I think his figo thread still has details on how to connect and get HUD working with the Torque application.

I did a quick Ebay search and found this.

ELM327 BLUETOOTH OBDII OBD2 DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER VAG-COM | eBay

Should work with all OBD2 cars.

My Questions for People who have used it here already.
1. Is paying 3k for this product worth it ? Considering its listed for 50 dollars, The ideal price should be around 2k.

2. Can we get it from Dubai ? One of my cousin is going there next month. If its available for a cheaper price there, maybe ill ask him to get some from there

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Get it from here cheaper -
Ebay.com item no. 300511375540. approx. 18$ with shipping. I paid extra 3$ for shipping through registered airmail. So that comes to 21$ shipped through registered airmail.

Re: GReddy Informeter

Does anyone know where the OBDII socket is in Mahindra vehicles, especially the Thar? I tried locating but could not.

^^ It is located on the RHS above the driver side foot well. It is mounted with the wiper motor mounting bracket using 2 M6 x 1.0 size nuts.

Re: GReddy Informeter

Did not read above posts earlier. Thar does not have OBD-II, it and most other M&M vehicles come with OBD-I.

Attached more useful info on OBD's

Oh Ok. I was looking for the socket in the driver well for about 15 minutes and thought I was missing something. This explains it. Thanks Spike.

So is the ECU that defines whether the vehicle gets OBD 1 or OBD II or something else?

What does the Scorpio carry OBD I or OBD II?
