re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

I have another problem to tackle here.

I bought the ELM 327 bluetooth device from DX in December.

OBDII Bluetooth Car Diagnostic Cable - Black + Blue + Orange (DC 12V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

The SW CD shipped broke during shipment. I have been chasing DX to provide me the SW since then. They provide link to a chinese website, but the software which is available their is some internet TV.

Can someone who has this product share the SW with me. Thanks

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Had a problem with my Tata Indigo.Warning light is coming on intermittently. The speedometer needle suddenly dives to zero, stay there for a while then shoots up again. At times I saw it shoot up even when the car was stationary. Just to find out I had connected my lap top through the blue tooth ELM327 and found a fault with the speed sensor. Tata techs say they have to change it. Could just be a loose connector somewhere. Wish I knew the location of the sensor could just check by pressing connectors in place. For now everything is working fine. Lets see in a few days.
Anyways here are some screen shots I took while I was connected.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

First, get the Idle air control valve & EGR checked. Then, proceed to other problems.Get these inspected as as soon as possible. Intermittent O/P of speed sensor can most probably be a loose/cut wire.

I wish Maruti cars came with this. Back at the service station, they still use that rudimentary 7 segment, single line black & white 'Tech2' scanner that can display only codes. Your device is as comprehensive as they come in troubleshooting

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

I got a ELM327 OBD II device from eBay (17$ with free shipping) , it is the same as the device in DealXtreme.
Got it on 30th June and it is not connecting to my Samsung Galaxy Ace with Torque App.

I have a 2009 Ritz Lxi.Plugged the device into the OBD II port and the lights light up on the device for 1-2 seconds , after that only the power light is steadily lit.The device shows up as CBT on the bluetooth menu and i am able to pair it using passcode 1234 ,Torque app also recognizes it , but does not connect. On Torque app , i have selected the device and it says " Connecting to OBD interface " and keeps going on and on .

Tried for nearly 3 hours and could not get it to connect.

I do not know if it is an issue with :-
1. The settings in Torque
2. The ELM 327 Adapter
3. My car ( Ritz Lxi 2009 )

Any tips/suggestions ??

Did you go under settings in torque to identify the device as ELM?
I think someone else was having the same probelm in the last page.
Have a look at that.

Mayank , kimified had that issue , I have selected the device in the " Bluetooth Preferences" also and yet it would not connect.

Has anyone tried using this adapter+torque for the petrol Ritz , if so , please share the settings , I am so sure something is wrong , but i don know what .Also i have Gingerbread custom ROM rooted ( I don think that would be an issue ).

Hi Rajan,

I'm not sure, but If I remember it right, the ELM327 + Torque combo does not work for '09 Ritz. I may be wrong though. Have you tried OBD Scope?

If the Ritz in question has K series engine it will work. If not it wouldn't.

Nope , I have not tried OBD Scope , but tried alOBD Scanner , and few other free OBD apps from the Android Market, but none of them work.

Archat , the Ritz in question has a K series engine . AFAIK , all petrol Ritz have a K-series engine. It is the first car with the 1.2L K series engine from MSIL.

None of the lights on the device light up except the power light which is steadily lit. Anyone using this ELM 327 device , do any of the other lights light up when the adapter is plugged in ?

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

^^ Try with your laptop and try a software like scantool.net, OBDwiz and set the communication speed to 9600 and try. Also try forcing the OBDII protocol to ISO 9141-2 or ISO14230-4 KWP2000 (fast init).

I succeeded to initiate communication with my 2008 Swift D after forcing the ISO14230-4 KWP2000 (fast init) protocol and turning off the keyword checking off. But soon after my ELM 327 scanner broke.

Also, try hyperterminal or a terminal program like Putty and try to communicate with the ELM327.

i read some place that the passcode is 6789 and should be printed somewhere on the device itself.

Try it.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Does any one of the ELM or other devices support K-Line? Apparently Safari DICOR 3L supports only K-Line, and not regular OBD.

K-Line (ISO 14229/14230) is one of the standard signalling protocols that is permitted by OBD-II. I wonder why this will not be supported by OBD scanners.

What is meant by regular OBD?

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

According to my friend, EOBD (OBDII) was not implemented in the old Delphi ECU.

So, if K-Line is one of the standard protocols under OBDII, ELM327 should be able to hook on, right? Has anyone tried it on a Safari Dicor?
