Rear Suspension Change for the Ikon 1.6

Is there any way possible where as i can alter the suspension setup at the rear for my 00' ikon 1.6
The Factory setup is way to soft for my comfort..as in with 3people and luggage at the rear..its a scrapper at almost an bump on the road...
Can this setup be changed?
Will this effect the cars charateristics in any way...?

Danny Boy,

Of course you can. Eat less chicken fried rice and you will be OK. On a serious note you can either stiffen existing shocks or go in for a Koni or similar branded setup.

This was changed in the NXT models. Seems it was a common complaint from all ikon owners. They shanged the suspension setup to prevent the car from squatting.

The worst part was is there were 3 in the back and there was a boot full of luggage the mudflaps would touch the road and scrape.

You could ask the ford guys how much replacing the dampers to the NXT will cost.

3 options:

1. Stiffen exisiting shocks - viper should be able to do this for you
2. Replace with Nxt Ikon shocks - intermediate solution
3. Replace with Koni shocks - most expensive yet most elegant solution

if you are worried only about rear scrapping on bump on the road then ,
A simple cost effective solution will be add 1inch Spacer in rear should not cost more than 1000-1500/- max with labour, ofcourse there are other expensive ways to do.
