Is Seat Belt covered under Warranty??

Hi guys,

I have a 2006 Getz GLS, Car Warranty is still on. My driver side seat belt has malfunctioned. Does anyone know whether that is covered under Warranty. The hyundai workshop people are not keen on replacing that under warranty. If anyone has info on this then please let me know.

Thanks,
Turbofreak

Mods..if this is not the right place for this topic..then please move it appropriately

Unique situation. Every working(active/passive) part of the car should be covered under warranty. While the dealer may not be "keen", you should persist

Very much so. If they don't, you can threaten to report them to the company.

Even the ashtray should be covered under warranty. The seatbelt is a part of the car and it has to be covered.

Everything is covered under the 1st year warranty be it a wear and tear part like battery or even a car horn. All you need to do is push the dealer.

However not too sure on additional warranties as that may be bound by some clause here and there.

I had lodged a complaint with hyundai motors against the showroom seeing their negligence. After the complaint they themselves have called me to the showroom and promised that they would fix the seatbelt for free.
Never had such issues with Maruti....

Got the clarification from the Hyundai helpdesk that, the seatbelt indeed comes under warranty.

Thanks,
Turbofreak

Hey dude..I guess it's definitely covered under warranty..infact recently during my 5th service of NHC(paid service),I told the service advisor to lubricate the seat belt tensioners, since they seemed to have become a bit tight, hampering smooth mechanism of the seat belts...and they did that without any labour charges..which surely suggests that it was done under warranty.

It HAS to be covered in warranty. If they don't agree, go ahead and push them or file a complaint to someone high in that company, like the customer relations manager. Or, do the extreme, go to court!

Seat Belts are an integral part of occupants safety.

As per Supreme court rule, all cars manufactured need to have front and rear seat belts except for older models.

You have the right to claim repair or replacement for the fault.

Write to the company or speak to the top guy in the dealership.

P.S. I havent mentioned the year when the SC passed the rule as I am not sure of the exact year.

BTW to make it clear, my esteem which is a 2002 model has front seat belts while my 800 (2003) has Fr and Rr seat belts.
