You seem to be drinking from the wrong pub...

Check other threads where steer has mentioned the same

My airfilter has again choked. I dont know now whom to kick. I have raised the point with much halla gulla in the workshop and am awaiting their further course of action. Tata's C7 report for my vehicle was also ok.

The Dicor which I have already has the latest s/w so there is no upgrade to the software.

Otherwise on the a diff note.

Infact while I watched, i asked the technician to carry out all the actuators test right from egr valve, fans etc, fuel injection and many more just to be sure.

I also had a look at the live engine data and came to know that Dicor has idle RPM of 704. Everything according to the software is running fine less the stupid airfilter which is choking the whole system up..

I have feb 2007 DICOR and the air filter is the same one you described i.e Air filter with no connection to ERG valve which is of green color but this was not in case of my old one (which dad sold to his brother).
and i have not experience any smoke problems so far.
There are no of improvements in feb DICOR.

Hey DESERT FOX. Its completely okay. I really appreciate your enthusiasm on this topic.

RAHUL, there is definitely a problem with the air filter. Ask them to change the air filter. Do make sure that it is manufactured in 2007 only. My service centre was giving me a new filter and said it is 2007. But when i checked on the packing box, it was made in Aug 2006. So dont be mistaken. Infact insist on a air filter pulled out of some 2007 PDI Safari. That is the safest bet.

Moreover why does your safri show 704 idle RPM?? Mine shows 672 which seems to be an ideal RPM...

OVERDOSE, your 2007 safari will not smoke. I know you would not see a connection from EGR to air filter but thats okay...The connection is definitely there but not from air filter. It comes from somewhere else..

Well on the EMS Comp when the ignition was switched off, the Target RPM for idling was 704 RPM and mine was showing the exact idling RPM when it was started..still connected to the comp..

On the airfilter part,I am waiting for the CRM to get back on this issue. then if that doesnt help or they make some cheeky excuse, then ill nail them with what ver i have

All right, its been almost a month now with the new filter and havent seen any problems yet.

However, I did change my fuel station to Pandit Automotive, HP Pump near wakad police chowky which was recommended by the workshop.

improvements with this pump

1. black smoke only on extreme hard rev/acceleration
2. smoke seen in the rear view mirror against other car headlight has drastically reduced.
3. smoother engine idle but sometimes i hear that tok-tok-tok-tok sound
4. milege increased by 1km with a/c on 100% to 11.5kmpl

I think i need to observe this airfilter for a month more
