Re: Diesel engine hesitation @ 1200 - 2000 rpm in my Hyundai Creta 1.4D

In modern diesels fueling is getting way too complex. Making them very vulnerable to fuel quality. This problem will probably exacerbate further with BS-6 diesels with 2000 bar plus rail pressure. I guess one more reason to stick to petrols if you want to keep your car for a long time.

Re: Diesel engine hesitation @ 1200 - 2000 rpm in my Hyundai Creta 1.4D

Following this thread.

I have a 28000km run 2017 Dzire, running on popular 1.3 DDIS Fiat engine. I have faced similar issue at ~2000rpm only in the 5th gear at a speed of ~80-90. But I have felt only two-three times in the past 2 months and that too for 5 seconds which have gone away on its on. I used Adon-D twice after it happened the first time but that did not help. Was planning to get it checked in the 30000km service.

So far, added ADON to my tankful of diesel with their recommended does of 1ml per litre. Initially it felt like the problem is resolved 80% but now in around a total of 150 kms till now, i still feel the problem. Will keep you guys updated.

Use SYSTEM D in 2 tankfuls and your problem will disappear. Appears bad quality of Diesel to me. Please change the fueling stations

Re: Diesel engine hesitation @ 1200 - 2000 rpm in my Hyundai Creta 1.4D

Went to the ASS(Safdurjung Hyundai, Gurgaon) again , as there was service feedback taken which i had provided negative. They requested me to come back. This time again it looked like a formality. They test drove the car twice but could not notice the issue. According to them had it been a injector issue, the engine noise would have been much higher and noticeable like kat-kat sound. I requested them for a OBD Scan, which they did but the piece was broken so it had to be held firmly and i am not sure if it was indeed done properly. I asked them if there is any error but they said no error sir. I asked the SA about the broken OBD and they said sir we have requested Hyundai but this is what is available as of now. I specifically asked for MAF Sensor and Injector values, which they say is a part of scan and had it there been a issue with them it would have shown in the scan. I was not very sure if they really understand a customer's problem and are genuinely helping or just want to avoid it. I already have this feeling that they are mostly interested in their sales targets. This is the reason i initially wanted to avoid them. Any ways, i am still driving on the ADON that i added in my diesel and will continue for this tankful and then try with System D or Liqui Moly in the next tank full. Also, if possible i ll try to get the OBD Scan again at some other place.

BTW,can anyone confirm if MAF Sensor and Injector values would be a part of OBD Scan or is their a separate procedure for it. Also, if any one can suggest a good friendly neighborhood garage who has this facility available and willing attitude. On a side note, i am still hoping that this problem goes away on its own

Sir you have to do the scan while driving the car and not while in the workshop. Ask them to connect the scanner and take the car for a drive, accompany them during the test drive and see how it works, do point out the times when the noise is audible. This might help as the engine behaves differently when revving on idle from the time while it is on load.

Hope the issue gets solved at the earliest.

Cheers

I would suggest you get a good OBD reader and install/purchase the Torque app. You will get all the values that you are seeking for. Do not wait for the HASS to get the G-Scan tool to get these values

Engine sort of jerking at 1200 rpm

I own a Fiesta classic Diesel 2012 model which is sparingly used and run only 46000 kms till date. Of late I have noticed a slight jerk, a sort of engine suffocation at about 1200 rpm. The rev beyond this is smooth and effortless. Can anyone pinpoint the reason? Is it injector clogged or turbocharger? The car has been regularly serviced with dealer.

Suggest you get it checked at a good workshop, start with filters both air and diesel. If that is all ok, then check for all intake pipes for leaks and then injector and pumps. Since car is running fine otherwise, it should be a minor issue.

I had a similar problem in my 3 year old xuv with 92000 in Odo. They replaced the vacuum modulator and all is well now.

Re: Diesel engine hesitation @ 1200 - 2000 rpm in my Hyundai Creta 1.4D

Car in question - Petrol Altis.

There's a slight 1-2 second hesitation in pickup around the 1800-2000 rpm mark followed by a whiff of petrol. I also have an error code on Torque Pro that points to the EVAP Canister.

How should I proceed?

Any inputs on this?

In addition to the code related to the EVAP Canister, my car does not have an oxygen sensor.
