Yes, they sure can.

Hyundai i10 and Toyota Corolla Altis are two class leading cars in their respective segments and I have a lot of respect for what these two cars are/ offer, but both these cars are very badly crippled by this problem.

A few days back, I saw such a dashboard cover in an Alto which had stopped next to my car at a traffic signal.

The dashboard cover was grey in colour and made of a Turkish towel kind of fluffy material. The workmanship was very nice, the cover was made exactly as per the shape of the dashboard. The cover even had slots for windscreen defogger vents and AC vents on the dashboard.

I wanted to click a picture of the dashboard cover, but there was a cute female sitting in the front passenger seat of the Also. If I tried to click a picture, my action would have been grossly misinterpreted. :D

Can someone give me any pointer to the availability of such a dashboard cover for i10.

My suggestion is to go get a pair of polarized sunglasses. It will really help. You will be amazed at the result. I am telling from my experience of using a cheap polarizer for my camera lens to cut down the glare and reflections. I expect the same result on human eyes too, since they are nothing but lens :) It really works like a charm.

Sunglasses should solve that. I face another problem sometimes. I get a reflection of everything on the dash on my windscreen. So I don't keep cloth or paper on it. It irritates me.

I am using a dashboard cover on my Spark(beige interiors), it has solved the glare problem. Though the one which I bought did not look good with lot of unwanted projections, I cut all of them and restitched it. Its now looks like a customised dashcover. It protects the dashboard from sun, improves AC performance and keeps the dashboard free from dust. In Bangalore it is available in JC road, the price ranges from Rs.400 to Rs.800 depending upon the car.

The dash cover is available in two colors gold and grey. It is made of Velour material. They also provide 3M double sided tapes for sticking it on dashboard. They are made to suit the dashboard profile and the material is very good. The benefits are

1. When you go for long rides in sun, the dashboard because of the beige color absorbs the heat and starts itching your eyes. This is reduced to a great extent.
2. With beige color, you have to close the windows all the time when you drive in city to protect it from dust and also have to use AC, but a dash cover protects from dust and you dont have to close the windows(subjective)
3. The dashboard is protected from heat, just try parking your vehicle in the sun with and without dash cover, you will see the difference.
4. The reflection on windshield is more during night, with a dash cover on you get a clear vision

People use dash covers in Chennai, Delhi but in Bangalore you dont find it that much. I came to know about a dashcover when I was in Chennai

Any updates on the dashboard reflection issue? i Have the same problem on my 2009 i10 kappa sportz and am also contemplating
1. sticking the leather onto the dash without 'surgery'
2. painting the dash with a dark matt finish preferably the same dark coffee colour which is in the interior.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

To avoid reflection from the dash board the best method is to wear Polarised Sunglasses.
They not only cut out the reflection but also improve visibility while driving in rains.
Don't know the physics of this though.
Telling from my personal experience.

dunno if its allowed in your state or not, but i have done this in all my cars.

This seems to be an old thread but I was searching for a dash board cover for my i10 as the reflection of beige dash on to the wind shield was too much. Today I went to JC road and picked up a grey dash board cover. I paid 350 Rs for it and it's ok so far. It is carpet kind of a mat which suits hyundai i10. The reflection has got reduced considerably and the look of the cover is also ok. I will post a pic soon.

My quick fix was to buy the cheapo sunshades sold on the roadside ( the ones with the suction cups, for the side window glasses) and lay them in front on the dashboard. Bingo!! it did the trick for me! been using this for the last one year now.

Hi, I have attached the photos. The reflection is considerably gone down. I did a 250 Kms of highway drive today during peak sun shine that is around 1:00 pm and found the mat to be effective. I am not sure how long the mat might last but sure it is helpful in cutting down the reflection. The mat might look odd on the dash but I am not bothered as far as it does it's job.
