Hi guys Help is required on my skoda octavia diesel
usually when i start the car the coil blinks for couple of seconds and goes off as soon as the engine is on, but sometimes while on the move if i stop the engine and immediately turn it on again then the coil indicator starts blinking continously ..........it has happened with me no. of times .....in this case everytime i have to stop the car for few minutes then the light goes off.infact with the coil blinker the engine oil light also comes on.....
can u tell me what can be wrong ?
i showed it to my dealer (silvertone) , they changed the brake fuse and said the problem wont come back coz it was related to the brake fuse but its still there.....
i hope this problem is not damaging anything else in my car....

If you stall the car and start it up immediately without first turning the ignition in the "off' position, the glow plug indicator starts to flash. Nothing to worry about. Simply turn the ignition off for a few seconds and that solves the problem.

P.s. it says this in the manual as well.

what does this coil indicator or glow-plug indicator do?

A glow plug indicator is a warning light that lights up when you first turn on the ignition. It basically pre-heats the combustion chambers in order to allow the fuel to combust upon compression.

You basically wait a few seconds for the glowplugs to heat up. When the dashboard light turns itself off, you can start the engine. Though on the Skoda, the glowplugs never really get used (atleast not in the south) as it never gets cold enough.

So we are talking diesel here. yes?
