Lumax develops localised AMT & DCT gear-shifters for Tata Motors

This is very good news especially for Altroz with DCT.

re: Lumax develops localised AMT & DCT gear-shifters for Tata Motors

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but the article does not say anything about AMT & DCT transmissions as such, only about the gearshifters used for them.

By gearshifters, they mean only the mechanism below the gear lever that links the gear lever to the transmission, and not the transmission itself. The picture in the article also suggests the same.

Developing a complicated technology such as a dual clutch transmission is no simple task. I don't wish to cast any aspersions on the capabilities of Lumax, but when even some big global auto giants have problems with developing a reliable, trouble-free DCT, I don't believe Lumax would be able to develop one in such a short period of time, with no previous experience.

The article is about gear shifters, not about the gearboxes.

The thread should be renamed, as such.
