Re: Old Mercedes W140 S-Class : Restoring it vs junking it

As someone who recently restored(rather just fixed a few issues) a 2005 Pulsar 150, I'd say that if you have any sentiments towards the car, get it fixed. Otherwise, junk it. The Pulsar was my first bike, and I just couldn't let it go. Spent a load of money on it that I'm sure practically thinking would've been better spent elsewhere. But every time I see I it in my Garage, I forget about the practicality and feel happy with my decision.

Re: Old Mercedes W140 S-Class : Restoring it vs junking it

In my opinion, there are two kinds of people in the world. One, those who think the W140 is "the most desirable" car ever built. Two, those who don't.
I belong to the first category.
So if you belong to the same category as me, it's well worth the effort. Restore it whatever it takes.
Otherwise look elsewhere.

Re: Old Mercedes W140 S-Class : Restoring it vs junking it

May we know what exactly is wrong with the vehicle? I'd imagine its a little impractical to invite suggestions on restoring without describing what exactly plagues the vehicle.

Perhaps a more detailed write up and some pics would go a long way.

Good luck!

A friends S600 was started and came back to life. It runs beautifully. The restorer I am talking about is based in Andheri, Mumbai and very dependable. Extremely well known in classic car circles. You could DM me and will pass on his coordinates.
