Re: Car cleaning & washing at the service center, or an independent shop outside?
My service centre visits are limited to once a year (touchwood) during the car servicing and even then I do not opt for any additional cleaning & washing from them. It's not only about money but also about the quality of the job.
At any busy ASS, there are 30 to 40 cars at any given point of time and the time given for cleaning the car cannot be more than 10 mins (on average). Also, car cleaning is not the primary job ASS so they generally don't put that much effort also. It's primarily limited to jet wash, vacuuming and putting that "Welcome" paper on the floor mat.
At the car washes / detailing shop, they not only give more time to clean the car but since cleaning is their primary job they do better justice to the money spent. Of course, they do upsell other cleaning packages/treatment but as long as you know what you are getting into, I guess it's better to go for car washes / detailing shop.
